I woudn't say better, but fairly even imo.
People seem to massively understate how good Sumich was in his peak and forget how good Brett Heady, Lewis and Wilson were
I saw Malthouse at a sportsman’s night around 10 years ago. When asked who the best player he ever coached was he threw up 3 names: Buckley, Jako and Sumich.

He decided on Buckley though.

How many 100+ train wrecks do we have to put up with before Simmo is axed and Nissie and the rest of the crowd responsible for this mess along wpith him?
Collingwood got a new coach and admin and they are top four.
This is a joke and not a very funny one.
It would have to be multiple I'd say 80 + point losses.

Even if they lose the next 4 games by 100 +, many fans and people at the club will say "but injuries", even though the reason they have so many injuries is not purely down to bad luck, they will ignore the part the club can control. Also for some reason the AFL media enjoy WC being shit and don't push for change at the club, like they do with so many other clubs.

Jeez. If the club doesn't sack him soon, it won't be long before some people (you know who you are) start calling for Simmo to be Marie Antoinette-ed. Just a game, guys.
No players, list is thin as paper and those who are playing are young, whilst trying to play their first/second AFL season and learn a new game plan.

I understand that most muppets on social media only know 5 players and don't listen/read any media other than those confirming their bias but it's gonna be like this for the next couple of years until the new brigade gets games into them and build their fitness/core strength to be able to compete with those mature bodies in the same position.

Wanting shit to immediately happen is unrealistic and demonstrates a complete lack of understanding of the process it takes to rebuild a club, pretty much from zero.

This is the price of contending for a flag for a number of years. This is literally the way the system is designed.

Unless you're a shit-truck club like North, of course.

Tonight's game;

1. Why didn't he tell Barrass to stay with the deepest Carlton forward rather than allowing McKay to drag him up the ground?
2. Why continue flooding our defence when it wasn't working? May as well as stuck the gameplan we've had in previous weeks.
3. Why not give Clark at least some time in the middle? Isn't this what he was drafted for?

Some people keep expecting a 2011 level turn-around.

Hawks were supposedly doing an all time tank job, shredding their list playing just for picks this year

Yet they've been super competitive and not put up anything like we saw tonight

But yeah, it's just the system and the way it all works. Nothing wrong at the club
We’re playing guys that aren’t ready for WAFL let alone AFL and you expect them to be competitive? We’re literally playing the only guys available and you expect them to just slot on with no issues? There’s no other club in the comp that could be competitive with 26 available players every week no matter what the quality of the list was like

Who isn’t ready for WAFL?? Bazzo who is unfit totally?

Outside of Culley and Ginbey everyone else who played has done at least 2 Afl preseasons and should be ready to play… when broken down thats the scary part… we weren’t thrashed with a bunch of young draftees playing at all.

That's pretty much it. People need to calm down. Get a new coach, and we're still going through this. May as well have the old coach shoulder the hard part and then see where we're at.

With our old players falling over, and lack of 20-25 year old top end talent, we're stuck to the bottom until top end talent has 50-80 games.

This just isn't avoidable. I'd rather be us with a flag than 10 other clubs who sort of pushed for top 4 and a flag and never won one.

People seriously need to man up.

We could do with a compo badly that was around eons ago for having less than 4 wins in a season. Pick 1 & 3.

My biggest fear is our rebuild will need to go further than when Tassie comes in and we'll have half a rebuild when that impacts us.

Right about now we could do with a break, a forfeited match, which is bonkers and sad.

Hawks will probably have their share of 80+ point losses this year. They've also been down the bottom for much longer than us so they have some top end talent coming through.

You're just being super emotional about the whole thing like when a toddler doesn't get their way.

You know we've got 2-3 more seasons of this?

Have a look at out 2018 flag side. We had no young top end talent. Barrass would be closest, and we've recruited OA since. Duggan, Venables, Cole etc - soldier/role player types. These guys were never going to develop into top 10 in the comp midfielders.

And now our older players a busted and broken. Shuey, Yeo, Gov, Nic etc.

These are not excuses. They are very obvious reasons why we are where we are. Sure, maybe we could have traded Gaff and Gov for 1st round picks, but we didn't. It's not like we're the first club not to see when a player's value is at it's peak and to cash the chips.

On top of that, the method of rebuild that has highest success is the draft. Go the bottom of the ladder and stock up on talent for a few years. We're doing that.

We're 18 months into a 4 year list transition and you're losing your shit? The next 2.5 years is going to hard for you. Guys like you want all the gun players and flags that come with it but won't accept that there are down periods. You're a cake eater.
