Changed my mind again about the next draft -- been watching a bit of Georgie Cleaver, and she's looking SO good. I know with Franklin coming in, we don't desperately need another tall, so Srhoj might make more sense. But seriously, how do you just pass up someone fast, tall and powerful who takes big contested marks and plays through the middle almost like a midfielder?

Can you really have too many great young talls? Assuming we get first pick, I reckon we take her, between her and Wakfer, that'll put Lackay's position under pressure.

Would be a great issue to have.

Would allow for injuries, and would also mean Roberts would have more reason to play as a permanent mid which I'd prefer personally

She's such a weapon - such a good attitude. I probably didn't sponsor her hard enough last year!

There's half an argument she's not got much more of a ceiling since she's already visibly pretty physically tanky (see below - guns). Not a massive burst of pace or booming kick.

But I reckon she'll follow a bit of a Jack Viney path - burst onto the scene, plateau a little as she finds she can't do it all and the Swansons (Nate Jones equivalent) start to age a bit and the game plan/lack of overall midfield dominance gets in the way.

Then as the stars come up (Petracca|E. Roberts etc) and Bella gets a bit of that calloused old warrior strength you can't get from the gym - I reckon she'll find that similar niche as that hard, contested, take the hits type that limits a Prespakis at stoppages but also when the games over you look back and go wow Bella actually got a lot of decent touches. Piss off the opposition. Soak up some damage, be a slightly older leader in there and halve the losable contests so more damaging players can win the winnable ones.

Think she's a big part of our future, but I don't expect her perfect role to carve itself next season or the season after

She’s got a fantastic attitude to learn, and always has. She spent a lot of time working on her non-dominant foot so that she could use both sides of her body before she got drafted and you can see how much work she’s put into that in games now.
I honestly think that she could be a good crumbing forward if she put her mind to it.

Caught with Lanky Franky & Lauren Wakfer at footy recently

Franklin - Calf is doing really well after a small strain. She’s bloody happy she came home and cannot wait play. She told me “I’m on the rise, just you wait”

Wakfer - Knee is good as gold. Looking at an uninterrupted preseason and is chomping at the bit

Seen Zoe W as well, and she’s been struggling with a few niggling injuries of late. Not sure she’ll get a game at all myself but she’s a good kid

Will Wakfer play much ruck in the 1s this year do you reckon? Bit of an exciting balance to try and strike this year between developing/preserving/winning.

Lakay is still developing herself and feels like her best role individually is to ruck most of the game, but Lauren too talented to leave out of the side/keep away from her best position forever obviously.

Do you see Lauren playing more back/forward to start off? Oscar Allen (when we got him to ruck) type role? The dream is that NicNat/Cox combo but I dunno if Lakay is a natural forward and Cox had done his development when Nic came in, wouldn't want to rob either of them

Putting some of the men's team to shame with that rig

Speaking with a friend who knows the family, Bella's mum is a personal trainer/body builder. So an instilled work ethic and good genetics.

Is anyone else absolutely peaking for the AFLW season to start since the men's has been....well 😵‍💫.

Lots of pre season socials posts, the younger cohort seem to be thick as thieves. Can't wait to see how it translates on field with Lanky Franky spearheading the forwardline. Might even open it up a bit for KB to crumb and curl some through the big sticks 😏

My work sent us all on a unity camp.

We all hated it.

It was a great success!

Narrator: Carbine Chaos was delisted from the Adelaide Crows at the end of the season

Zippy Fish and Henry both did well at the WAFLW award last night. Fish finished with from memory two points above Henry who only played a hand full of games getting 2 x BOG and a 2 vote game.
