Cobain also used to stress if any songs he wrote sounded too 'pop' so went out of his way to make them messier.

Sounds like a fairly unnatural songwriting process from a dude more concerned with his image and brand than writing whatever came naturally to him.

Dude was in a constant fight within himself, sharply critical of anything commercial yet with an innate ability to write catchy songs for the masses.

I used to do a fair Creed at karaoke, but I digress.

I don't think Creed could play metal, not classic style metal anyway, like Nickelback or Foo Fighters. Even Korn done a bit of Metallica.

That's true.

He copied the Pink Hair phase of CC Deville though. Fancy being a Poison imitator.

i mean he was a heroin addict and seemed pretty obviously depressed for most of his adult life, which only lasted until 27. so yeah i'd say his mental state would have been pretty messed up at all times

Lol. The Sporting Capital has just binned the 2026 Commonwealth Games. Dictator Dan says the state is in way too much debt.

Wait don’t events like that revitalise the economy? Lol

Wasnt the MCG upgrade rationalised by having the Comms games?
I presume that is still going ahead

People with demons make cooler music.
Cause and effect a bit awry there.

Artists of all forms tend to be troubled by the demons of self reflection more than most but being troubled by the demon of depression does not predispose you to being an artist.

Case in point. I've run with the demons all my friggin life, spent hours in front of a piano from the age of 5 and have the musical skills of a rabid dog. Even my stick drawings are crap.

(Can thump a bass drum with my right foot like a champ though if that counts)

As you were mate. Just sayin'.

Oh, and Bon Scott was one of the greatest artists ever to come out of Australia (via Scotland of course). Wish I had the chance to have seen him perform live.

I was being slightly tongue in cheek m8.

Art can be salvation for damaged people as well & help them make it through their 20's alive.

To wander, I think the strike rate of depressing 90s music, as good as it was, is either a massive tragic coincidence, or there's something in wallowing and exposing ones unhappiness ad nauseam that's not conducive to improving ones mental health.

So that's why I sing happy 90s music about CAAN YOU TUUUURK MIEII HAIGHER

Let's go there
Let's make our escape
C'mon let's go there
Let's ask can we stay

Yeah, I was gonna say that I don't think if you're downing a bottle of liquor or more every single day that you're probably a particularly happy person.
But he wasn't. He could easily not drink. When there was a party though, he was right up in it. He liked to keep the party going.

Alcohol can be truly fantastic at prolonging good moods and positivity. I only have one rule with booze and it's I don't touch it if I'm upset or angry.

In the last ten years, there's been a lot of sobriety after watching Port Adelaide.
