That’s who he is though re Michaelanny , offence will come but he will always be elite defensively , that’s his thing

Hinge has been great and gives us drive

Always room for good players
Not at the expense of needs Jeff

This was the WB problem .....they kept getting Midfielders, at the expense of other needs .....took Treloar because he was available & cheap

Resulted in a great midfield .....but having to play Macrae Wing / HFF , and Smith HFF ......with Treloar and the introduction of Caleb Daniel into the MIDS

Left them short on KPD's due to a large chunk of TPP going to Mids ......they're very very lucky, they've picked up an NGA in Ugle Hagan, and a couple of father/son talls .....if not, they'd be stuffed

We're actually bereft of talls

Silvagni isn't a key position player.
He's 194 cm .....same size as Murray

He's played Ruck and FF ? ......his issue is CARL have tossed him all over the place .....only query is pace off the mark ?
However pre-empting the play gives good defenders a speed advantage ......something Butts can't do, he's a very reactive Defender

He doesn't have the physical strength to play as a key defender imo.

Is he a scrapper like his dad ? .....anyway, the feeling is, Silvagni will be leaving CARL
Imo he is better suited to 3rd tall role & that isn't a need for us.

Plenty of talls in our best 22 , could have added another 190cm one too if he had of agreed

Anyway time to move on , we still need good players in all segments of the ground , need some experience still and not just use the draft

Nank could become that elite HB, I loved what I saw on Sunday - but it’ll be three years before we see that from him

I don’t see it from any of the other guys we have, really. As I’ve said in the past, every team in the comp needs to have an elite rebounder. Who’s our Daicos/Stewart/May/Redman/Saad/Blakey/Young?
Three years?

That's fine with me.

Our squad will be ripe come 2026 (provided we add midfield talent)

Plenty you think ? ......outside a RUCK and 4 x KPP and 3rd talls .....we have 2 players as backup .....one of which is Dawson, a midfielder

And I think we can both agree, Himmelberg doesn't count

Now the WB ....they have 20 players 192cm and above ......I was also kind and didn't include 190/191 cm players
Good luck with Butts trying to keep the WB under control ;)

Fair

Adding the midfield (and maybe ruck) talent is the big if, as well as making sure we have enough goalkicking options to fill the Tex-sized hole

What… like Stengle?..

how many further indiscretions have we seen from young Tyson since we swiftly broomed that now AA premiership player out the door?
I don't think this is a good comparison

All the Vic clubs need to reject him.

No Vic player is coming to SA unless there is no interest from any Vic club.

That is why we were able to get Ben Keays.

And never in the field when a guy like Taranto changes club.

Not entirely true.

Before signing with us Seedsman had an offer from North Mel… ah never mind, fair point.

We are screwed.

No big signing this year. No superstar addition. Unless they are from Adelaide and are looking to get a pay day above their current rate … We don’t get a look in.

I don’t see that player in the 2023 / 2024 trade talks.

Himmelberg isn’t THE answer, he’s an answer … and I’m not sure to what question. I do not expect him to come to the crows.

Midfield? Doubt it. Will need to be a bargain risk type player … against the odds to say the least. Maybe Hollands? He’s done nothing to justify any faith - but might be available.

When did our club last land someone out of nowhere? A huge shock signing? That we went out and got. A game changer? Not for a very long time … maybe Carey when he was half a player. Not going to happen my friends.

So we have to go to the draft AGAIN and try and hang on to our young up and coming stars while they are starved of real premiership opportunity and offered much better deals in Victoria?

If I hear the words “organic growth” I’m gonna spew up.

Screwed I tells ya!!!!

The wheels on the bus just keep going around and a-f$!@ing-round.

I think all players are gettable as everyone has a value. Just has to be the right offer and the club would have to meet the trade demands of their respective club.

This would be the issue with a lot of players we approach. We probably get a lot of players interested in coming, its just when we approach their club for trade discussions the club demands stupid level picks that are impossible to meet or well above their value. Because they are contracted it means we dont have a leg to stand on. Its why we have concentrated hard on out of contract players. It forces the other clubs to the trade table.

Wait… what?

We lack KPD depth, that’s obvious.

But what point are you making here? They have 20 players over 191, so what, we have about 18 I reckon. It’s largely irrelevant.

The last part… are you saying Butts may have to contend with an 18 man 192+ cm forward line one day?

Reckon we will get Dylan Stephens for sure. We are aiming for a team full of left footers.

If there is no magic midfielder we trade in (Flanders, Hollands etc), we have what will likely be a top 5 or 6 pick to get a quality mid (hoping they don't engineer it so North get Sanders). Then why not try and also trade up for GC pick and get another quality top end young mid - add 2 of them for next year and maybe one or both hit the ground running like Max Michalanney has this year.

Surely Sloane is on his last year with us this year so there should be ample opportunity for the young mids then to push a claim for a place. Look at Guys like Wardlaw and Sheezel this year - in a poor side but they are looking unreal.

Reckon we will get Dylan Stephens for sure. We are aiming for a team full of left footers.

Am seriously disappointed we couldn’t land Redman for free, but am keen on Stephens with what is currently available.

Stick him on a wing with the potential to move into the midfield, Cook on the other wing, and give Jones another crack in the guts while rotating through the wing as well.

I still want Tarryn Thomas. If he can keep his shit together he'll be a star
