That one's pretty black and white.

Anyone see Tex giving him a bake after the Port players collusion?
TT went in soft and ended up not even being in the contest then afterwards Tex took him to task.
Nah... wasn't a bake - Tex gave him a coupla pats on the toosh after that. Commentators thought Tex was saying something like "they're down a coupla big blokes, your chance to shine"

It’s also possible he was just checking in on him, players get desensitised but it can’t feel great to come out of contest and see two guys asleep from it, similar to how a fast bowler feels after hitting someone in the head.

Yeah I just went and watched it back, you’re right it did seem like a bake.

Tbh a bit unfair, Tex is obviously a fantastic player but he’s not exactly known for crashing packs.
Yeah if it was a bake, Tex is out of line.

TT had someone on his tail and he went to win the ball and didn't shirk any contest. Aliir actually won the ball first before it landed in TTs hands. In doing so Aliir didn't see Jones at the last moment and connoned into him.

The dumbest thing to do in today's game would have been to not go for the ball and cannon into Aliir. That would have been instant suspension.
Even Tex would know that so I highly doubt that was the suggestion or that Tex was angry that he didn't do this.

The second thing that makes me sure that wasn't what Tex was talking about, is if you watch the replay you can clearly see that there were 4 players originally in the contest and only one player backs out of the contest. That player was Aliir's direct opponent which is none other than Tex himself.

I actually think Tex was trying to pump him up, saying stay aggressive

Looking back at it again I think Tex was trying to rev him up. I doubt it was about the contest because it happened so quickly.

For memory TT was pretty damaging after that.

Usually it's our guys taking each other out. Generally some combination of Murray/Butts/Doedee taking the other one out.

We should probably pick a defender as sub given how often we lose a defender during games.

My thought was that he was saying it is TT time to shine now with Alir out. Try to fire him up.

He is so good below his knees that I think he is going to be best as a ruck. When the ball is on the ground he is as clean as any of the midfielders. Insane for someone so tall.

Seems to mark better on the wing than when leading as a forward. Not sure why.
He's cleaner than most midfielders at ground level it's actually insane. People who think he doesn't have a big impact aren't watching closely enough. His ability to cleanly collect and dispose of the ball for his size is super damaging.

6 score involvements, 2 goal assists and 3 marks inside 50 is a good return, he did things that very few big men can do.

Finishing those two shots would have turned it into a great night.

I'm not keen putting him in the ruck for centre bounces but I like the idea of him around the ball.

He seems to have a pretty good tank, could he roam up and down the ground as a wingman.

Imagine him floating forward providing an option or drifting back to help our defenders.

And his goal kicking has generally been exceptional this year so will forgive missing a couple in junk time

Also grabbed 3 contested marks and remains top 10 for those in the comp

That’s a great effort.

Fumbled a few easy marks as well in the first half which would have resulted in shots on goals.

On another day, Thilthorpe ends up with 3-4 goals from that game. But that's really the current problem, he's close, but just hasn't yet clicked.

Wing would be a waste of his talent I reckon.

He has the potential to be one of the league's best rucks while also having that forward string to his bow.

I disagree. When does Riley look at his best? Contested marking along the wings, no where near as effective up forward with double teaming and conjestion.

He needs to get into games, a wing or HFF is ideal and when he's up and about shift him forward

Where does Riley look best? Centre half forward. Seriously, go back to his SANFL games at the start of last year. He didn't look like he gave a **** at all and was putting up numbers peak Carey would have been happy with. He's not far enough from doing that at the AFL either, and I'd wager he'll break out the moment we give him that role and play through him.

Right now, he's a sub 50 gamer who is stuck playing a third tall (and forth, if not, fifth fiddle in our forwardline) and a decoy third tall at that to make it mesh with Tex/Fog. His numbers reflect that, but talk of playing him as a lead ruck, or a wing is just a waste of this lads talents.

Yeah would be interesting. Sometimes the guy just looks like a really tall midfielder to me. He can do things that other big men just cant.
