You mean its not? 25 years and counting? And lets be very clear , reviews can come and go yet we make the same same same mistakes over and over and you're quite happy to shrug your shoulders and turn up next week as if nothing happened?

Its a systematic almost deliberate move by the club to be happy with selling memberships and beating Port Adelaide. Play a final every few years like its table scraps for the customers. Put out good news tweets when we have bad news.

Why am I bitter? I had a major scare this year and like a few here I dont think I will see us win another flag. Now you might dismiss that but I sure as hell dont. beartoo , kirky, Eagleboy2011 , WheresGroomgone - are all in the same boat.

I see a club that isnt brave , I see a club that is happy with middle of the road, I see a club that makes choices that set us back another year. They promise a lot but are too scared to deliver.

I mean sure if all you want to be is entertained then go for it - buy those opera seat tickets and sit back and clap clap, clap clap clap like the happy customer you are but I have smelled enough grass in my life to not fall for that bullshit.

In the last 25 years, we probably should have won a couple more flags, as we were in an ideal position. Mid 2000s and 2017 should have led to that. Being in a premiership position every eight years or so is probably where you want to be, but you then need to take your chances.

I don't think I'm a happy clapper for thinking this club is genuinely improving as part of its rebuild, as the results and the entire football industry seem to say the same thing.

I was just pointing out that recently you seem to meet everything at the club with negative posts and the most depressing interpretation possible.

I'm sorry about what might have happened in your private life recently.

Personally, I'm mostly okay with how things are going. I occasionally disagree with some selections, I'd like a more aggressive and ruthless off field approach - but this is recreational, and I'm not going to waste too much energy being upset about something I have zero control over.

Mostly, I'll just try and look at what happens with an open mind, even if that seems a bit too positive to some.

Elijah Hollands is in the trade table for the suns as they need points for academy players

He needs to be a key target

Of what I’ve seen of him last few games he hasn’t done very much and keeps getting subbed, maybe he can turn that around at Adelaide? Who knows, if we go for it shouldn’t be giving up too much.

Seedsman has retired

Poor bloke.

If he'd been able to play this year, we would have been playing finals no doubt.

Hope he gets a decent piece of that class action payout pie.

I don't understand the interest from so many here in Elijah Hollands. I'll admit that I haven't seen a huge amount of him - I don't go out of my way to watch Gold Coast games, and I certainly didn't see anything from him in our game here a couple of weeks back that had me salivating at the thought of bringing him in.

Can somebody please explain the appeal?

There is no appeal other than he was a high draft pick and barracked for the Crom. He’s horrid.

Hmmm ok.

Sounds like the Port approach to trading, then... Just get anyone who might want to come here? That's how you get Jack Watts and Jimmy Toumpas.
In all honesty, this board is a little bit odd sometimes. We seem to latch on to certain players for the wrong reasons. Bailey Williams another one. It’s almost like we are so jaded as a supporter base that we’ve come to expect that we can’t attract players that aren’t tied to the club or state in some way. Hollands and Williams will not make us better. Simple as that.

I get it though, if you pay up appropriate draft capital then there’s the chance a guy like Hollands booms and plays a role well for us. Williams is a free hit, doesn’t cost draft capital

But neither should be treated as the second coming, which Hollands especially is around these parts

Move sloane, hamill and smithers into the 3 open rookie list spots.

trade or, hell, even delist doedee.. I’m sorry, but I literally dont care if we get nothing for him at this point.

Give crouch 2 more years.
Mcadam 3 more

upgrade Borlase to main list.. Look.. we have no choice unless we trade in a plug and play KPD.. we simply cannot go into next season with Keane and Butts as our only two KPD’s with Murray out for at least the first half the season. If one of keane or butts went down we’d be fxxked. What if both went down at the same time.

Sure, Worrell can be a KPD of sorts but he’s far more valuable in the third defender/floating intercepter Doedee type role.. but better than doedee at it cause he has better skills and much more height.

trade for The Suns 1st.. give them our 2024 1st, the north pick and something else for it (use the suns second we have to get that “something else”) so they get to keep a 1st rounder (essentially moving it to 2024) that they’d lose on bids anyway and they get some very good picks to use for matching.
And we get to move our 2024 which we’ll probably lose matching on tyler into 2023. its a win-win for both clubs.

take two picks to the draft (the suns first and our first) get the two best mids or mid/forwards available at those picks. Then bow out of the draft unless a good young ruck prospect comes up that we can grab with one of our much later picks..

Would happily trade in a BZT than keep Borlase. Would be even better to trade in a clear upgrade on Butts so that we have some real depth in KPD

Agree McAdam in particular - but Crouch also - we should be signing up

We have such a logjam list again we are going to have to be creative to do even the compulsory moves without going backwards

Happy to be corrected, but from what I can see

By my count we've currently got 31 players contracted for the senior list past this year

Unsigned seniors list players
Matt Crouch
Shane McAdam
Jackson Hately
Tom Doedee
Fisher McAsey

We also need to upgrade Nick Murray and Patrick Parnell I believe, so that actually puts us at 33 seniors for next year.

Rookie list currently
Paul Seedsman
Tyler Brown
Andrew McPherson
Mark Keane
Patrick Parnell
Nick Murray

Cat B rookies
James Borlase
Tariek Newchurch

So headed into next year that means we have 1 guaranteed rookie in Mark Keane with Parnell and Murray moving up to the senior list, Seedsman retiring and i'm assuming Brown and McPherson being moved on. That means we can potentially move 3 seniors down to the rookie list to hit our minimum quota of 4. So currently @ 33 and assuming we keep Crouch, McAdan and Doedee, that puts us at 36 on the senior list, so we'd have 2 spots to fill. That means we need to move 1 guy down to the rookie list to hit our quota of 3 selections at the draft.

So headed into the draft we have the current options I guess (assuming we sign Crouch, McAdam and Doedee) with us currently having picks 7, 20, 22 and 43

Option 1 - Take 2 picks in the national draft and 3 in the rookie draft. That means we can only use picks 7 and 20 unless we package 22 and 43 in deals
Option 2- Take 3 picks in the national draft, move 1 senior player to the rookie and take 2 in the rookie draft (lets us use 7, 20 and 22)
Option 3 - Take 4 picks in the national draft, move 2 senior players to the rookie list and take 1 in the rookie draft (lets us use 7, 20, 22 and 43)
Option 4 - Take 5 picks in the national draft, move 3 seniors to the rookie list and skip the rookie draft. We don't have 5 picks, so i'm guessing option 5 becomes open if there's a FA or delisted player we're interested in that takes up a senior list spot, or if we keep Borlase.

I'm guessing we will take option 2 or 3.

What impact on our list situation are LTI. Obviously we could move Murray, Doedee and potentially Hamill (if he did get another concussion last week) to that list?

Does that help free up spots - and kick the can into next year so to speak?

Murray is already on the rookie list and needs to be upgraded and I believe we'd need to delist Doods to move him to the rookie list, but what we could potentially do is draft guys in the supplemental or mid-year draft if we believe they're gonna miss the entire year. I will assume that won't occur if we keep Doedee though as he could come back in time to play some football towards the end of 2024.

I think it's pretty clear that Crouch does not want to be at the Crows next year. Put your house on it
Maybe, maybe not. But he did give an interview 2 weeks ago saying how much he loves Adelaide, the place and the club, and is really settled here.
