What impact on our list situation are LTI. Obviously we could move Murray, Doedee and potentially Hamill (if he did get another concussion last week) to that list?

Does that help free up spots - and kick the can into next year so to speak?
It makes no difference in terms of freeing up list positions for the ND/PSD/RD. Any replacements for these players would need to be signed in the PSSP, or selected in next year's MSD.

Doedee & Murray are both expected back mid-season, so we probably wouldn't be able to replace either of them.

Hamill is a different kettle of fish - he could be gone for good, like Seedsman, or he could get over it quickly. We don't know the extent of his latest injury just yet.

We have zero spots for targets. Particularly if we do bring a low profile KPD in. Doubt we will be in the hunt

I think we take two picks to the draft and take one mature player in the trade period, and grab a KPD as a filler in the rookie draft.

We just need a reasonable warm body for a while.

I get it though, if you pay up appropriate draft capital then there’s the chance a guy like Hollands booms and plays a role well for us. Williams is a free hit, doesn’t cost draft capital

But neither should be treated as the second coming, which Hollands especially is around these parts
Who is treating Hollands as the second coming?

He's someone who we trade a 2nd round pick for, as a speculative roll of the dice. He has upside, and he also might flame out.

Williams is a free upgrade, from a B- to a B+. No urgency to it, but I think it improves us a small amount.

Would happily trade in a BZT than keep Borlase. Would be even better to trade in a clear upgrade on Butts so that we have some real depth in KPD

Agree McAdam in particular - but Crouch also - we should be signing up

We have such a logjam list again we are going to have to be creative to do even the compulsory moves without going backwards

BZT makes sense, as he could also slide over to a third tall role. I'd happily move the GCS pick on for him, as he has some upside.

Borlase? I think we try and find a better option.

Happy to be corrected, but from what I can see

By my count we've currently got 31 players contracted for the senior list past this year

Unsigned seniors list players
Matt Crouch
Shane McAdam
Jackson Hately
Tom Doedee
Fisher McAsey

We also need to upgrade Nick Murray and Patrick Parnell I believe, so that actually puts us at 33 seniors for next year.

Rookie list currently
Paul Seedsman
Tyler Brown
Andrew McPherson
Mark Keane
Patrick Parnell
Nick Murray

Cat B rookies
James Borlase
Tariek Newchurch

So headed into next year that means we have 1 guaranteed rookie in Mark Keane with Parnell and Murray moving up to the senior list, Seedsman retiring and i'm assuming Brown and McPherson being moved on. That means we can potentially move 3 seniors down to the rookie list to hit our minimum quota of 4. So currently @ 33 and assuming we keep Crouch, McAdan and Doedee, that puts us at 36 on the senior list, so we'd have 2 spots to fill. That means we need to move 1 guy down to the rookie list to hit our quota of 3 selections at the draft.

So headed into the draft we have the current options I guess (assuming we sign Crouch, McAdam and Doedee) with us currently having picks 7, 20, 22 and 43

Option 1 - Take 2 picks in the national draft and 3 in the rookie draft. That means we can only use picks 7 and 20 unless we package 22 and 43 in deals
Option 2- Take 3 picks in the national draft, move 1 senior player to the rookie and take 2 in the rookie draft (lets us use 7, 20 and 22)
Option 3 - Take 4 picks in the national draft, move 2 senior players to the rookie list and take 1 in the rookie draft (lets us use 7, 20, 22 and 43)
Option 4 - Take 5 picks in the national draft, move 3 seniors to the rookie list and skip the rookie draft. We don't have 5 picks, so i'm guessing option 5 becomes open if there's a FA or delisted player we're interested in that takes up a senior list spot, or if we keep Borlase.

I'm guessing we will take option 2 or 3.
Option 3 I’m hoping

We have enough depth players and B graders

I’d be going v easy on late / rookie picks and trying to only bring in game changers through early picks

And / Or improve our draft hand for next years talented SA bunch where possible

Murray is already on the rookie list and needs to be upgraded and I believe we'd need to delist Doods to move him to the rookie list, but what we could potentially do is draft guys in the supplemental or mid-year draft if we believe they're gonna miss the entire year. I will assume that won't occur if we keep Doedee though as he could come back in time to play some football towards the end of 2024.
Doedee could be back before the bye next year

Doedee wont be rookie listed. He is best 22.

This board has been going cuckoo bananas over getting him to the club since he was drafted due to “he was a Crows supporter”, when in reality I don’t think that’ll mean much

In reality, he should be seen the same as a Hately - as you say, has genuine upside, but also a low floor

I thought it was reported a while back Williams was re-signing honestly, but no official news it seems

We will still have delistings to make. So far Seedsman and then we will probably delist McPherson, Hamill, Brown, Borlase and maybe Newchurch. So that is a potential 5-6 list spots freed up.

Hamill is contracted, Borlase & Newchurch are Cat B rookies who can't be replaced (unless we find another Cat B eligible player somewhere), McPherson & Brown are on the rookie list.

Moving Hamill to the rookie list frees up a position on the senior list - none of the others do, and the Cat B rookies don't even free up a position that we can use at all.

hollands is a good option, would rather Finlay Macrae, but this is my own personal opinions.

I wouldn't be surprised if we either try and combine both our seconds for another pick in the first round, or trade one of them into next year for points. We will need points next year for Welsh if he does end up going in the first round.

So we take 2 picks in this years draft (our first and 1 of the seconds) and then everything else gets traded into next year.

From the main list - I can see 1 of Crouch, Mcadam or Doedee leaving, and then Hately and Mcasey both get delisted.

Rookie list I think Keane is the only one that remains, Murray will be upgraded and the rest delisted. I think Parnell could be the causality from the Sloane resigning. I am not convinced we will upgrade him, he may get delisted and re-rookied if we can. I then believe Hamil will also be moved to the rookie list. Borlase may also get delisted and then re-rookied rather than putting him on the main list straight away.

So from your list above I think option 2 - 2 live picks and then upgrade Murray as the third selection (and then trade out picks 22 and 43)

So Matt Crouch is a good player again?

We aren’t buying that candy are we … I mean, he’s playing fine but nothing worth getting in a fizz over.

Let him go.

I can’t believe anyone wants McAdam to be in any discussions with anyone. He’s best 22 all day long.

Hately can finish up. Had his second try and it didn’t pan out.

Borlase looks solid, wouldn’t be pushing him out with our current needs.

Newchurch I think it’s a pass.

Parnell I’d be locking down, he looks useful in many ways.

Hamill had so much going for him, not sure if that boat has sailed. Probably.

We have some good Youth in the works, if we do some good pick moves to accommodate for future FS - maybe we can have a real crack at sometime this year that will instantly make our midfield better?

Imagine attracting someone off the radar, getting a trade done for someone like an LDU … We can throw a pretty big offer their way.

Probably just dreaming right? More likely we pay a first rounder for Hollands.

There is no appeal other than he was a high draft pick and barracked for the Crom. He’s horrid.
I was keen to draft him ahead of TT in his draft year. He hasn't come on at all. Bullet dodged

If we could get an LDU type that would be awesome. Parish is unlikely but surely we'd ask the q?

I don't know if anybody WANTS McAdam gone, but the fact he's unsigned this late in the year and there seems to be no talk of re-signing him, the obvious conclusion seems to be that something is up. Either he's got an offer from another club and has requested (or will request) a trade, or his papers have been stamped by our side for reasons none of us are privy to and we're looking to trade him. Maybe our plans for the trade / draft period require X number of list spots and he's just unlucky enough to be out of contract? Or perhaps he'll be a late signing when the dust settles after the trade period.
