I don’t watch much Sanfl during the year but with the last touch rule - if that came into the AFL do you think it almost makes them redundant at that level? Would clubs look at the Gollant, Grigg bigger mobile guys and just dispense with the ROB’s and Witts types altogether?

A little bit but not altogether

It’s a horrible rule , insufficient intent works better in afl

We could be in it if our board pushed it.

Instead of paying $500k a year to the SANFL to ream us we could use that money for the reserves to travel with the seniors for most of our away games.

Priceless team bonding, playing under the same rules, same jumper, play home games where we want to etc etc.

Olsen will never take money out of his mates pockets though, imagine all the smoozing he did today and the next couple of weeks with the old boys.

I reckon the AFL/SANFL/WAFL like that a lot of footy fans in SA and WA don't realise there already is an AFL reserves comp.

I was impressed with Borlase today, especially rucking after halftime. He seemed to have a very good reach, with many two-handed hits on target. He also kept on and on, despite looking puffed in the first quarter.

I am warming to giving him a one-year deal to see how he develops.

Has a few shortcomings but if he can improve in a few areas, will make a solid AFL footballer.

We were completely smashed in the stats, winning only handballs and tackles (and scoring).*

It was amazing how we were rescued by players who had not been sighted at all: McKenzie, Clamp, Wright, with last-quarter heroics.
It was impressive how McKenzie flicked the switch to show how much he wanted to win the match.

* This will happen when you don't turn up for a half.

He looked knackered before half time.

But seemed to get a second wind in the second half.

Made some big contests in the last 10 minutes.

Have to keep him. He has Footy smarts.

Agree we have to keep him.. he’s good depth.

reckon it was the sturt boys that tired more than him getting a second wind though.. thats the difference with training under burgess instead of a sanfl level fitness coach.. and training fulltime.

sturt spent most of their tickets in that first quarter and a half. They did the same two weeks ago against us.

Yep that’s why we were pretty calm early , almost too calm though ! Knowing it’s the best team over 4 QTRs

Would love a thread about what Clam likes about the Crows but it would be a blank page. ;)
Was out at Father's Day lunch when game started. Score check... I don't blame him being emotional and reactionary.

I watched 2nd half. Borlase did some good things in ruck. He'd have a better tank if he got leaner, but then gives up strength.

The umpire rot seemed to really kick in after we hit the front.

I liked Keane's work.
