Hmmm, so the rules were adjusted suggesting we could sign some stronger players, yet we seem to have signed a bunch of players who played some reserves.
Are we again playing nice with the SANFL rather than looking after ourselves first?
Maybe decent SANFL players want to play for a SANFL club that gives a shit about winning a flag

Bit of both I think.

Quite likely. I guess we will see who Port signs.
Mclennan already gone, they tried to get Tom Lewis, Matt Allen and a few bigger name SANFL guys who all said no.

They dont have much list depth as evidence of where they finished this year.

Wait so we’ve got a SANFL top up ruck and yet no spot for a developing ruck, lol
"The signings are part of the SANFL’s new list regulations which include AFL club access to talented SANFL players under the age of 21 who are overlooked in the AFL Draft."

That bit suggest the aim of the rule might be for kids to have a second chance of being drafted.

Question to the learned amongst us. With these new rules what happens when most AFL players are available and these signed players cannot make the team. Eg Ned Atkinson. Does he play for Sturt or a local club??

so i assume mccormack and taheny are 2/4 over 21 signings, atkinson is one of the loan players and the other two are treated as regular community pick ups seeing as they came directly from ammo clubs.

thats how i see it anyways.

It appears that way.

So 2 more over 21s.

Given the above tweet by the club I would think Ned2 is signed on and not a loan

yeah that im not sure about, but im not sure if they can or not. sturt might have had to agree to release him/crows pay a transfer fee. not sure as the rules have never really been expanded upon since they were released.

I assume we'll sign a couple more after the draft.

I'm not keen on going down Port's path and signing a bunch of 25 year old journeymen. We've got enough experienced guys like Smith, Burgess, Jones and others as leaders in our reserves side.
