Lipinski will be monstered by the GWS players, he’s too soft. Finals footy is not his bag, just like it wasn’t for Johnson and many others.
GWS aren't into monstering so much as blistering pace and incredible evasiveness and balking. the question you have to ask is more: will Lippa be quick enough (not, will he be hard enough).

In fairness, Lippa had a great finals series last year.

But hasn’t looked the same player since his shoulder reco. Hesitates now to put his body on the line.

Yep their game revolves heavily around their pacey wingers and flankers. They are exceptional on the overlap and they know it.

Much like us, they don't want a contested crash and bash slog. However I reckon with a bit of heat from our Beau's and Crisp's and they'll wither away in front of our 90,000 at the G.

Hope we have another defensive master class in us.

They're not too big up forward so maybe we need a hungry Johnny Farkin Noble to come back in.

Naicos of course of Half back and Crisp to the midfield.

Maybe Need one of Cox or Cameron to make way.

Gonna be interesting week.

That's a simplistic view of one players entire value, but I get your point. But we're all aware of his strengths and weaknesses.
Doubt he will be monstered by Whitfield.
He’s in the team for his ability to spread and his kicking. With increased finals pressure his kicking has been off. He’s been given a different role because he has been surpassed. Contest is king in finals football, he is not best 23.

You reckon they’d love it contested and hard rather than soft and bruise free?

Rightio
Stop trying to have a "gotcha" moment. Yes, some teams thrive on the grunt/physical side of footy. It was clear I was opposing the implication that a tough, high pressure brand of footy would be something they fear.

Ward and Green like their hard ball, sure, but their game plan revolves around gaining territory quickly via their outside runners like Bedford. That's where they like it.
Tonight, the commentators mentioned the fact that Powell-Pepper was second guessing himself due to the heat the Giants were bringing and he usually thrives on that kind of footy. Any team will find life difficult if the pressure rating gets above 200. The Giants can play the slick running game and hard contested footy which makes them a good team.

The beautiful and unfathomable workings of the Fox Footy 'pressure rating' would never lie.

I’m nervous now, GWS are a damn good team and in the best form of all team left. It gets serious now, we can’t be knocked out 2 years in a row by a Sydney team. Surely it’s our time.
A StKilda team that don’t like scoring, are pretty slow and lack a bit of class and a Port team that looked pretty banged up and whose backline pales compared to ours probably exaggerates that form guide a bit.

Thought I’d quickly look over at the GWS thread

They don’t even have got next weeks game lol

There game thread barely any pages and post game comment were mainly from insecure opposition gutless supporters hoping we lose

Tragic

I remember that call as well. That was during the 2nd quarter. GWS unleashed a blitzkrieg on PA. But you cannot base your assessment of GWS on one quarter in which they seized momentum and PA were blindsided. This is proven by the fact that in the 3rd quarter PA were able to stabilise the game. Their contested footy was based on speed, not so much physical brutality. We will need to to plan for their speed above all else. One of the elements will be our ability to get numbers to the contested ball and our team defence.
