If I were a Brisbane fan I'd be annoyed by that call too. Need to be honest with yourself though and admit you were beat by the better team. A lions win would have been a robbery.

It's more a bad rule than a bad call. Nothing about the 'advantage' rule actually relates to it being advantageous in the rulebook

The only advantage was the one we handed Brisbane with our inaccuracy.

On another day we kick 18.12 and the final margin isn't even close.

Last years trade period will go down in history. If you were to crystal ball that booby would kick 4 and get the norm smith, Mitchell would get 27 and 13 tackles, Billy F would fill a role, and McStay and Markov would help help us get to the granny, you’d be absolutely over the moon….

Incredibly difficult post to make while it's still raw but congratulations to all of you and your club on a fantastic season and Grand Final. The best team all year for mine and I take solace in knowing we weren't too far off.

It was a cracking game and while it'll be difficult to re-watch it for me, you guys will have the pleasure of savouring it for years to come, so enjoy it. You have an amazing coach, a captain who speaks very eloquently (and seems like a great man) and a team that has an amazing culture.

Losing sucks, losing a close game sucks even more but truthfully when the opposition is as good as you guys were, it's hard to not just tip your hat in admiration. Bobby Hill was electric and a worthy Norm Smith winner, congrats to him.

Lastly, every single close GF is going to have controversy. 2002 had plenty that went the Lions way (Rocca's goal, missed hold on Tarrant then hold on Lynch). The advantage call is irrelevant to the final result for me, I felt we had our fair share of calls on the day but could never get control of the game outside of a patch in the 2nd quarter.

Deserved Premiers, congratulations and while history says rematch GF's are rare, I do hope one is on the cards for 2024. Enjoy.

Just a word to David King......Kingy, a couple of months back, you told the world that the Pies were definitely going to win the premiership. He said that the AFL could stop the competition then and there, because the Pies were a certainty for the flag...

As time progressed, he lost a little confidence in his own judgement and started to get shakey on his pronouncement. He began to favour other teams in the race to the flag and ended up selecting Brisbane to win on grand final day....

And so the lesson for the aspiring expert is to have confidence in your own opinions. Dont second guess yourself. Stick to your guns and most importantly, stick with the Pies.
