Logic of introducing a Tassie team is baffling. We've had consistently shallow drafts for the last few years, declining rates of youth participation, and yet we're introducing a new club.View attachment 1833950
If these ranking are anything to go by its slim pickings at 15 pushed out to 18 or 19
Is Lorenz worth thinking about with our last pick?Ashton Moir From potential 1 to outside 40.
Pat Weckert from potential top 10 to most likely not drafted
Will Lorenz from potential top 10 to most likely late ND or rookie
Alex Holt from potential first round to late ND or rookie
Even Archer Reid, early days he was talked about as a top 5 pick and it's not likely he won't be taken in the top 20.
A year is a long time in footy that's for sure.
It didn't end well for him at North as a player and as an assistant coach so that's good to hear.I actually introduced myself (I’m opening a 150 pax pizzeria & function space just down the road, but it was more about being a North fan) & whilst my intention was to just say hello, he asked my name, stood up & we had a chat for about fifteen minutes.
He’s couldn't have been nicer & without me prompting it at all he said his brother has done a great job this week & said regardless of how it pans out it’s amazing to think we have five top 20 picks.
Talked about his time at Melbourne/Casey & used the Trac & Oliver draftings as comparable to Sheez & Wardlaw in how those elite players set up a premiership. He then said Brayden George needs to be included in that too.
I’m not going to post out in the open on here what he said regarding the upcoming draft, even though he prefaced the second bit with ‘he didn’t say this directly’, because it would feel like a bit of a betrayal.
I’ll just say, I hope Brady calls West Coast’s bluff.
He was legitimately so nice & we had such a good chat about culture in business (regardless of whether it’s hospo or a footy club etc) & we exchanged phone numbers (his idea) so we can ‘catch up for a beer & chat about footy.’
Preface this by saying that I’ve not watched anyone live and have no known scouting abilities, but Caddy looks so much better to me in highlight videos than Duursma? Looks like he has a freakishly long wingspan and pack marking ability. Can someone more knowledgeable than me give me a summary of why he isn’t rated in that top handful?
Surely we are targeting O'Sullivan - though Caddy would be good too. If they are both gone it means it means we are getting one of Sanders, Watson or Curtin cheap.Who are we even targeting at pick 8 anyway? Curtin & O’sullivan could both be gone if we are targeting a key defender. Murphy is a reach at that spot.
Taking out the academy and f/s picks
1. Reid
2. Mckercher
3. Duursma
4. Watson
5. Curtin
6. Sanders
7. O’Sullivan
8. Caddy
Is caddy still a good result? Does the talent pool drop off after Sanders? I‘ve heard a few times the talent pool is pretty even between 10 and 25. Are O’Sullivan and Caddy clearly better than the next group?
Is Lorenz worth thinking about with our last pick?
Schoenmakers kick is insane
Sounds like second base to me. Nice.& we exchanged phone numbers (his idea) so we can ‘catch up for a beer & chat about footy.’
Picks 76 & 94 will come down once teams start to pass. As it stands 76 & 94 will probably end up with 2 picks in the 50s. Geelong has always done well at the back end of the draft and rookie draft. After the top 15 it’s a very even group. There will be some gems at the back end. I reckon they will trade #8 as the cats draft for need and role players. They will get that with later picks in rnd 1 and further back.It just dawned on me that we need to get through mackie to get pick 8
The bloke who wasted 10 days to land picks 76 & 94, who then went live on air, hands on hips, and with a straight face explained how much they value said picks.

If we go for Watson, I just hope he doesn't have a career like Spicer where he just seemed too small for AFL football (yes, I am aware they are vastly different in talent levels), Currently listed as 1+inch shorter and lighter than Phoenix.
Anyone got any insight as to how he's gone playing against men?
If I were Brady I wouldn’t be making any calls to West Coast. If they want our pick 2, let them call us - and it will cost them Pick 1 this year + their F1.
We have the upper hand here folks.

Next minute on the Eagles board - “lol those norf beggars now think we’re gonna trade two pick 1’s for pick 2 and they said Reid is s**t but they’ll draft him for lols”.
Given nothing will happen between now and most likely, a few weeks, I'd like to propose a cathartic release.
What was the draft call you made at the time, that makes you look back and cringe?
Seeing Kade Stewart as an 16yo and thinking he would be a 200 game AFL player for me
Spicer didn't have a cool nick name like "the Wizard" tho. That make all the difference
That is overpaying and throwing away a first rounder for nothing IMOFar too much focus in here on getting another pick in the top ten, that's not going to be easy. I suspect we've got our eyes on Swans 12 or Saints 13. Makes a lot of sense to trade with either of them, let's say it's 15 and 18 for 12/13 they are only dropping back 2 or 3 spots but they get another pick 3 picks later. For us we move up 2 or 3 spots to select someone we're targeting and still have pick 17.
