I reckon McKercher will be an absolute delight as an outside mid. And a perfect fit with Sheezel, Wardlaw, Phillips, Thomas, LDU, Simpkin etc.

Will be interesting how WC use Reid. He doesn't have the tank to play a lot of mid, yet. And he might not get a ton of the ball if he is playing up forward for WC next year.

If it was Curtin plus O’Sullivan v Duursma I’d be all for it. Our backline is a complete shemozzle and getting the standout two defenders in this years draft would be smart business in my view.

Our backline was only a shemozzle because we had a big dopey campaigner that couldn’t read play or play off for a zone. Our defence is actually better than it was in 2022 season

our backline will basically be fine as soon as Logue gets back and maybe even before that if Pink and Nyuon come good. You don't spend a 5 pick first round draft haul on correcting a shaky line in your present day best 22.

That’s madness imo, we should have had a young developing key back on the list over the last few years, it will be absolute incompetence if we don’t have one coming out of this draft. While we all hope Pink and Nyuon can be serviceable we definitely can’t bank on it playing out that way, Pink has already been delisted at the level and Nyuon was probably in danger of being delisted this year if we weren’t desperate for depth. So we absolutely must invest in a young key defender. Will be a nightmare draft if we don’t come out of this with at least 1 young key defender imo.

Nah his objection was probably in relation to my post re splitting pick three in order to engineer two top 8 picks to get Curtin and O’Sullivan rather than best available at 3. Not about the pick in the teens

Had a lung infection and some other injury. Wasn’t til last in the season he found fitness.

and again if we bypass him we must have traded down. The Hawfs won’t be able to spit his name out quick enough.

He will be a star and I just hope it’s for us.

We should probably take 1 but the idea that it should be the focus of the first round, or that we should even think about it with picks 2 and 3 is a massive over-reaction

If anything I think we should be taking 1outright key defender and another utility tall such as Dawson or reid who have played both forward and back. With logues impeding return smfc the additions of pink and nyuon I think we don't necessarily need 2 kpds especially with the fact that pink is signed for 2 years also.

So I'm sick to the back teeth reading posts by various nuffies about the insult to the integrity of the draft occasioned by the assistance packages given to North. The only way to compare the previous priority pick system with the current system is to use the points, and lo and behold, there's a few august institutions ahead of us - this only goes back to 2000, so Collingwood escapes further embarrassment for the pick 1 in 1999, and it also doesn't allow for the "conditional" nature of the picks given to North, which forced trades probably at a discount. The multi-million dollar grant to keep Port afloat ten years ago obviously also doesn't figure alongside their PP.

Anyway, feel free to ram it down the throat of the next imbecile (or perhaps, adolescent) who would prefer to forget their own history

Agreed, it is ridiculous some of the scenarios being presented.
We have 1 and you have 2 and 3 and if both sides are smart that is how it it should stay.
It would be a win/win for both teams .

WC given significantly more handouts than North ever has. AFL resistance required to keep a big club relevant .

Agree with most of what you’re saying, especially about being on the tins, but the one thing I disagree with is the bit about Pink & being delisted. He was delisted as a forward from Sydney. I know it’s the same player, but plenty of blokes have been shit forwards & become great backmen.

I have big hopes for him. My Glenelg supporting mates are spewing he’s gone. SANFL sure, but an absolutely integral part of that premiership backline & the full back for the SANFL team of the year.

Just about to come into his prime years.
