Our 'away' game vs Gold Coast is in Darwin.

We play Brisbane only once, and that's in Adelaide for the Gather Round.

Honestly not fussed about that tbh.

Think about it from the perspective of us diehard Roos living in QLD, then consider being a little bit fussed in solidarity.

Yep. Its a national game. People move. At least one game in every two-team state makes for a fairer fixture. And it provides a little more incentive for fans to buy interstate memberships when they can guarantee at least one game without a plane flight.

I care about the team getting the best results.

Whilst sympathetic to supporters, Collingwood and their ilk benefit from less travel each year and I'm happy to do the same.

Look as someone who grew up in Adelaide as a NMFC fan, I get it, but your needs are a distant second to a fixture that I think is competitively advantageous to our actual team.

Agreed, just asking you not to dismiss that it sucks for us to have two QLD games fixtured then moved to another state/territory.

It would be interesting to know what the difference in ticket revenue would be between a truly fair fixture and the current status quo.

Yeh I'm a bit lost on this counter argument too.

The team is best served staying in Melbourne with as many MCG games and longer breaks as possible.

The rest is strictly "nice to have" imo.

Imagine if the club actually cared about this exact point….

Time to put my mad investigative forensics skillz to use.

I'd say you might find a shinboner or two right about here:

Training on the Gold Coast, I like it, had a feeling after the last game, we would do something like this, though I thought it would be in Perth somewhere, training in humid conditions, building the fitness base and also acclimatise in different conditions, with our new coaches, fitness staff and the finish to last year, we have all boarded the bus, door is closed, we're off! We are going along at a nice clip, our bus is so full, lots of excitement and anticipation and the long journey is underway, now it begins.

Could be this bloke. Same boots. Paul Amy has said we have signed this guy for our VFL team as well.

HOPKINS' RUNNING NUMBERS

FURTHEST RAN IN A GAME: 13.005km
STATE COMBINE 2KM TIME TRIAL: 6:32

Hopkins, a dashing defender, played 14 games for the Rays this Coates Talent League season.

He averaged 19.8 disposals a game and broke the club’s distance-covered record.

While Hopkins’ running capacity, short and long, is an obvious strength, he prides himself more on his footy IQ.

Whatever happens on Tuesday, Hopkins will return to the Dandenong Stingrays and try his luck at landing on a VFL list.

He doesn’t want to wait until the mid-season draft to hear his name called but said it will add extra incentive if he is to be overlooked next week.

“It can add to the motivation a little bit,” he said.

“I am obviously very grateful for where I am because I didn’t expect to be here, but getting a taste of it, being this close to your dream.

“Having that extra opportunity, I am going to put everything into it if it isn’t to happen this year.”
Confirmed it is Charlie Harrop.

There is your answer
Having had no experience in elite sport training, I started wondering "well then, why not Alice Springs or Broome, where its gonna be ten degrees hotter?"

But then it occurred to me that there isn't a whole lot of suitable training facilities there.

I guess at this time of year, GC is probably the sweet spot between adverse conditions and decent resources.
