The fact that a delivery from a pace bowler can deflect off the bail and not displace it is laughable.
Then that spud Gilkes stands too close to the stumps and dislodges one of the bails with his gloves whilst trying to follow the bowler. Amateur stuff. I played four third grade matches as a keeper and I'd be embarrassed by that.

Seems bizarre he can play finals without having played any regular season games, but its a good signing given the circumstances
A few seasons ago we had Morkel from South Africa come and join us for the last few weeks of the season (Scorchers missed the finals).

It really annoys me how the big bash is so compromised by players leaving part way for other tournaments. Makes it a shits and giggles league as the team strength is so uneven. It's likely that the heat will go from unbeatable to possibly not winning a final.

Love this time of the BBL season...

...when all the Victorians will remind us how little anyone cares about the competition. Apparently.

The fact their only side with any hope of making finals lost to the other (at the foot of the table) makes their combined failure this season even funnier.

lol Stars. lol Victoria.

And yet again, the comments on the Scorchers Pride profile pic on FB are very disturbing.

The fact these people are willing to put these comments out there for family and their work to see always shocks me.

Get the players to read them out on the big screen and name and shame these people.

And hopefully it helps them reflect upon their actions and that maybe the game/gesture isn't about them. Or, you know, just ignore it and enjoy the game itself?

Never seen it happen with the ball hitting the bails though
Aaah, I see your point.

I've seen in the early 90s the bail dislodge and land back in the groove after being clipped by the ball.

To Ochre's point, the bails are one of those traditional conventions of the sport. I guess it's also a definitive way of telling if a player is bowled or not, no umpire intervention required (assuming a keeper is not standing up, or there is a gale blowing).

Some people have nothing better to do with their lives than lose their minds over anything vaguely 'woke'. Few of them on this board, too.

Apparently bails weren't part of the game initially, there were added to be able to tell if the stumps had been hit, so in a way, my suggestion is even more traditional than what is currently happen.

Also keeping a dumb tradition for the sake of tradition is dumb.

They've made finals once between them in the past 4 BBLs and twice in the past 4 WBBLs.

But to be fair the leading run scorer in the comp for the past two seasons has been a Victorian, and he's doing a great job captaining the Strikers too

Agreed. But this one has practical value, it ain't so dumb.

Have been catching a bit of the SA20 or whatever it's called. CA are going to have to make some changes or we'll be very lucky to even get SA's 3rd rate test team for the BBL

Why is the final on a Wednesday? Thursday would have made much more sense, give Aus day public holiday is the day after.

How hard would it have been to have the test running from 26-30 (which has happened in the past) with the BBL final the night before? Marvelous CA. As bad as the time the Scorchers hosted a final at 4.15pm on a Thursday about 7 years ago.
