Jokes aside, the better films I've seen in the past couple of years - Oppenheimer, Dune 2 and Furiosa - could well have done with an intermission.

I still reckon Oppenheimer would have worked better as a miniseries.

Definitely worked at least, not sure if it could've been done better. Speaking for myself, a lot of the content - physics & politics - isn't exactly what I'd call entertaining for someone of my intelligence level and I still found the film both interesting and intense despite its run time.

I just wanted to get to know some of the peripheral characters better. Plus the editing of the first hour or so I found quite jarring.

For all the love of Murphy I thought Florence Pugh was the best part of the movie, and not just because of noods.

I agree about the editing - I think it was intentional to keep the pace of the film going.

For sure, although it did take me about 4hrs to actually get through. Toilet/drink/snack breaks, made my own intermission.

These days, any movie longer then 90mins I struggle to sit through from start to finish, especially if it’s something that I’m a little meh on. I need to pause and get up and have a break

I made the wife watch both of them only a couple of months back. End of the 1st: "What did you think?" "It was very long." She enjoyed the second a lot more, might’ve been knowing what to expect, but we were the same, watching both at home took a good 4 hours each.

Great movies, that level fantasy is usually beyond my tastes but both films are excellent.


I'm currently watching Talk To Me, saw it at the cinema and it's the first movie to truly scare me in a couple of decades and haven't been able to watch it again since.
