On one hand I hope all the teams not playing that week are organising a last minute pre-season hit out at near season match intensity. On the other you wouldn't really want to potentially burn your players a week before the season commences. Shit is already unequal and this just adds to that

One thing I love about the Comben footage is the way he's so keen to move the ball quickly, if not play on - and use his momentum and size to burst through tackles - after taking an intercept.

Magoo would take a nice intercept, stop, prop, look around, hello birds hello sky, wander off his line, get called to play on, panic, hit a short sideways kick, stuff that kick up 20 per cent of the time anyway.

Almost as if he's been diligently modeling his game on Darcy Moore. Just like Clarko told him.

One of my last memories of Hartung was him trying to tackle (and succeeding) a bigger player then going off field with injuries from the tackle.

I love that we are playing little bit of Russian roulette in the backline, loading up on players that will punish the opposition on the rebound. It’s part of the reason why I think Sheezel could be utilised as a lockdown defender, as he will drag dangerous smalls forward with his repeat efforts, class and fitness.
