I look forward to Carlton getting a nothing free kick at the first Centre bounce & as soon as the ball goes inside 50 whichever of McKay & Curnow is closest to goal being given the ball for holding. Rinse & repeat.
Followed by the umpires congratulating themselves for getting on top of that Ballantyne Freo stuff

Added bonus of the commentary not being able to work out what its for or calling it harsh, but moving on very quickly to talking about how well Carlton are playing.

What is with the Carlton hate on this board? I hate all Victorian teams equally, and the whole Vic centric format of the league.

Carlton have played good football for six months. Is that the issue people have, that six months of good Carlton football excites the superlatives from Victoria whereas six months of good football from freo doesn’t register a yawn from them?

Feel this is our first real test and gauge at where we are for this season. Not at home and against good opposition..

Haven't been excited for a game.. since last week lol

For me personally every time I travelled to Melbourne to watch the footy Carlton fans were always insufferable, even though their team was horrible.
Collingwood fans in comparison were basically pleasant.

Add to that some close losses (including that after the siren one), losing a couple of players to them, them bidding on our NGA (or picking them when we couldn't match even though a bunch of Vic teams had been able to the year before) and the general big Vic club attitude (we're amazing because we won a bunch of VFL premierships 40 years ago) it might go some of the way to explaining the specific recent attitudes towards Carlton.

My hate for Carlton goes back a long time.... and it's not for them being decent this season.

I agree - Collingwood supporters have been surprisingly nice when we have gone to Melbourne

it feels like a final
Yeah it does. I guess 2 teams vying to remain undefeated and keep themselves in the 'top 4' mix, even this early.......you can sense the tension from both sets of fans. They both want to win.....big time!

We're considered the underdogs though. I think the AFL crew have tipped Carlton 9-2 in the "who wins" article they do from their 11 tipsters. Yes, people like Sarah Olle and the wonderful Kane Cornes. I'm guessing the bookies have Carlton as favourites too.

A lot of work to do here, but if anyone is capable, Freo are up for the fight! We'll see

I’m gonna take one for the team and not watch the game
Hopefully this works

Go Freo ⚓

So much more at stake than the four points today.

Let's see..

We get a chance to stake our claim against some quality opposition.

Build some real momentum going forward, especially going into a consecutive challenge - Port at the fortress.

The confidence the team would get with a win here cannot be understated.

Some bonuses:

Those Carlton fans are out in droves with a real smug/self-congratulatory demeanor which is sick to watch. That needs to be remedied with a reality-check, and fast.

Potential (unlikely and dependent on other results, but nevertheless) top spot by the end of the round - cherry on top. 😉

Reminded of this bit from South Park going into this game. The doctor are the fans here seeing me off and Cartman is me going to the game.
