It is more the issue of Clarkson getting a fine and Jezza getting 6 weeks big bad The Texan style which is what is being called for by absolute numpties. If the AFL want to actually show some consistency for the first time ever then at the most he should get the same penalty as Clarkson. But they wont. They will bow down to the social media warriors and give him games.

Not that it makes it okay, but surely you have to factor in his Jeremy's mental health into the equation. Not just his mental state at the time he said it, but also the impact of suspending him for multiple games and what that will do to him. The guy is probably going through more than anyone in the comp at the moment. Give him a fine and a suspended sentence, where if he messes up again, he then cops a suspension.

AFL is all about mental health, but dragging this on as long as they have already is not doing any good for Jez's mental welfare either.

Lol as if the AFL care about Jeremy's mental health. Jeremy's mental health does precisely zero for their brand image so it's immaterial.

So in his case it was the action that was derogatory, not just the language used. The severity of that offence was much greater and warranted the larger punishment.

That's spot on.

We all know the personal trauma that Jezza's been going through over recent times. And no need to bring that up in relation to this incident.

But just imagine if this was a Crows player. The Advertiser would have made those issues a centre point for leniency; as would the AFL media had it been a Victorian club. Feck knows why Clarkson was given any leniency at all - it's not as if there has been a rewriting of AFL laws between Clarkson's homophobic slur in March and what happened on Friday night.

Jezz and the club have apologised, multiple times and we (as a club) will cop what the AFL decides to dish out as a penalty.

But that does not mean we don't fail to see (yet again) the gross hypocrisy and double standards at play here.

Jungle drums are beating , everyone jumping in now , demanding ever increasing levels of punishment. The longer the penalty drags out the greater the risk that he will be sentenced to death.

Whatever penalty is “dished out” it will be final. End of story and if we appeal (and of course lose) the consequences “dished out” to the Port Adelaide Football Club will be frightening

Which is why my point that a 6 week fine would be absolutely absurd.

I think the outcome should be that the AFL give him a fine similar to Clarko, but also make a statement that this will no longer be tolerated and will be met with a heavy suspension moving forward.

This gives consistency as well as shows that the AFL is taking things seriously. It is the only fair outcome GIVEN what Clarko got.

Caro has voiced her opinion on what the word was. She let it be known that the word used was c**k*****r. Isn't that the same word used by Clarkson?

Personally a hefty fine should be it- doing games for name calling sets a high precedent.

I thought the word used by Finlayson was F****t

In any case, they're all words that are commonly used on the football field as Caro has said. The difference is that this was caught by the umpire and his mic.

Knowing all of this, it would be incredibly harsh to suspend him.
