Well its certainly light in the context of people demanding 4+ weeks for FinWhy do people say it was light on Clarkson? He was fined $20k for calling another grown man a c0cksucker. Are you kidding? He didn't hit him, he didn't make him cry, I doubt he even slightly hurt his feelings. Why are people so quick to condemn an almost harmless, victimless act? It boggles my mind. What the * is wrong with you all? Were you brought up in a teflon bubble?
It is more the issue of Clarkson getting a fine and Jezza getting 6 weeks big bad The Texan style which is what is being called for by absolute numpties. If the AFL want to actually show some consistency for the first time ever then at the most he should get the same penalty as Clarkson. But they wont. They will bow down to the social media warriors and give him games. Why do people say it was light on Clarkson? He was fined $20k for calling another grown man a c0cksucker. Are you kidding? Ah ok, I must have confused it with the other racist stuff he was accused of.Clarko's comment was **********, not racist.

Not that it makes it okay, but surely you have to factor in his Jeremy's mental health into the equation. Not just his mental state at the time he said it, but also the impact of suspending him for multiple games and what that will do to him. The guy is probably going through more than anyone in the comp at the moment. Give him a fine and a suspended sentence, where if he messes up again, he then cops a suspension.
AFL is all about mental health, but dragging this on as long as they have already is not doing any good for Jez's mental welfare either.
He came out publicly very quickly with his statement of apology too. That was rather brave.Lol as if the AFL care about Jeremy's mental health. Jeremy's mental health does precisely zero for their brand image so it's immaterial.
This...Sounds like it wasn't meant to be a derogatory insult to a homosexual player, and was just a throwaway insult. In that respect the charge is use of derogatory language, and is bad enough to be scrutinised publicly, and perhaps even get a week for.
But comparisons to Walker's racism are way off the mark as he was using racist language to target a player based explicitly on their race. So in his case it was the action that was derogatory, not just the language used. The severity of that offence was much greater and warranted the larger punishment.
That's spot on.Lol as if the AFL care about Jeremy's mental health. Jeremy's mental health does precisely zero for their brand image so it's immaterial.

Not currently playing but didn't Don Scott come out as gay/bi after he retired? Or was that just a rumour?
Whatever penalty is “dished out” it will be final. End of story and if we appeal (and of course lose) the consequences “dished out” to the Port Adelaide Football Club will be frighteningThat's spot on.
We all know the personal trauma that Jezza's been going through over recent times. And no need to bring that up in relation to this incident.
But just imagine if this was a Crows player. The Advertiser would have made those issues a centre point for leniency; as would the AFL media had it been a Victorian club. Feck knows why Clarkson was given any leniency at all - it's not as if there has been a rewriting of AFL laws between Clarkson's homophobic slur in March and what happened on Friday night.
Jezz and the club have apologised, multiple times and we (as a club) will cop what the AFL decides to dish out as a penalty.
But that does not mean we don't fail to see (yet again) the gross hypocrisy and double standards at play here.
No, I'm fairly sure that despite his fashion choices, he's an old boomer on par with the likes of Sam Newman. Not currently playing but didn't Don Scott come out as gay/bi after he retired? Or was that just a rumour?
The AFL would only care about his mental health if he was a star and doing Coke!Lol as if the AFL care about Jeremy's mental health. Jeremy's mental health does precisely zero for their brand image so it's immaterial.
They won't even let us wear the bars, you think they'll be able to sort something like this out swiftly? The lack of consistency in the game (specifically MRO decisions, penalties for off-field incidents, umpiring), is the worst part of the sport.
The AFL must be the most incompetent sporting organisation in the world
As Caro has stated, it's a word that's been used on the field before and likely even this year. The only difference is that it was caught on mic by the umpire.
Which is why my point that a 6 week fine would be absolutely absurd.
I think the outcome should be that the AFL give him a fine similar to Clarko, but also make a statement that this will no longer be tolerated and will be met with a heavy suspension moving forward.
This gives consistency as well as shows that the AFL is taking things seriously. It is the only fair outcome GIVEN what Clarko got.
We're forgetting the cross dresser too? They're usually gay. Was it Laidley? Not currently playing but didn't Don Scott come out as gay/bi after he retired? Or was that just a rumour?
I thought the word used by Finlayson was F****tCaro has voiced her opinion on what the word was. She let it be known that the word used was c**k*****r. Isn't that the same word used by Clarkson?
If only the umpires could catch things like, oh obvious free kicks.I thought the word used by Finlayson was F****t
In any case, they're all words that are commonly used on the football field as Caro has said. The difference is that this was caught by the umpire and his mic.
Knowing all of this, it would be incredibly harsh to suspend him.
