Kolo has actually been in good form so far. Returned to his level of ‘22. No way he gets dropped. Tuohy is more problematic. I think he and the club should be prepared to play him for decent periods in the VFL if we have a relatively full squad to pick from.
In the geelong medical update 2E and Kolo are both a test for Quads.

I realise that. Was responding to the post that intimated that Kolo being labeled injured would avoid the embarrassment of the club naming him omitted. Unless I misinterpreted CHAWKTS

My interpretation of CHAWKTS post was more inferring that a couple of niggles allows the ability to name said players as injured/sore on Thursday nights team sheet, and it being more respectful to North compared with those naming 3 or 4 players as out managed, with no injury report

So not about disrespect to the players but rather the opposition

Yes. Thanks that was exactly what I was trying to say….

But understand it could be misinterpreted. I am being cynical a little but I do think it is smart that if you are minded to rest some players (and Kolo would be rested not omitted for sure) then better to have some niggles to point to. Especially if they rest Stanley and Hawk - anymore looks like we are not being serious

Sorry I can see how that could have been interpreted. I was saying I think we might rest Hawk and maybe Stanley - so any more would look really disrespectful to North. With that in mind it is “handy” if we have a couple of others with minor injuries on Tuesday that can fail the test (or just being cautious) to manage a few more. Kolo would not be omitted I agree…

I think sometimes it can depend on the players being discussed to how we interpret things

If it was Stewart or J. Henry then there'd be an innate understanding we're talking about (dis)respect for the opposition. But if it's say Kolodjashnij or SDK, there may be a few more eyebrow raises as to who we're being respectful towards

For those interested and who want to help vote out Hawthorn...

All good. See what you mean now.

Despite Cats 4-0 start, structural issues remain
Bulldogs exposed the Cats Achilles Heel
Taking 16 intercept contested marks inside F50
Cats need a tall, strong marking, power forward
Jezza is a far-roaming forward, best fast leading.
Hawkins is best 1 on 1 or leading into space
Ollie Henry is too small against big defenders.
Neale needs to come into the Cats forward line.
His job would be stop defensive intercept marks.
Compete in the air and bring the ball to ground.
This stops defenders double teaming Hawkins.
A regular tactic used by most of the top teams
Lets Jezza roam and takes pressure off O'Henry
Creates more opportunities for our skilled smalls
Gives Neale experience before becoming Key Fwd.

Not sure how realistic this is but I wouldn't mind playing Hawkins AND including Neale for this one. Stretch their defence, which lacks good talls.

Cameron and Dempsey can continue to push up to the wing a lot. O.Henry working on his up the ground work on a flank at times. Hawkins and Neale the big targets.

Neale told to get to as many contests as possible and at the very least bring the ball to ground.

Another full game for Bowes is a must. Gave our midfield some attacking incision.

It's a great time to give COS his debut with Kolo's real or pretend issue.

A rest for Clark, bring him back primed for the trip to Brisbane?

Out: Tuohy Kolo Stanley Clark
In: Mullin Neale Conway O'Sullivan

Sub decision is tricky. It probably won't be MOC back to back weeks.

FB: Zuthrie De Koning O'Sullivan
HB: Stewart J.Henry Duncan

C: Holmes Bruhn Miers
FOL: Conway Blicavs Parfitt

HF: Cameron Neale Close
FF: O.Henry Hawkins Stengle

IC: Bowes Atkins Dempsey O'Connor Mullin(sub)

If Jezza kicked to his average we win by a few more goals, and if the umpires didn't look after the Doggies forwards the margin gets even bigger.

Bulldogs have a better midfield on paper than us, significantly more disposals and did little with it.
How often is Hawkins held goalless? Last year against the Dogs kicked 2 (1 GA), year before kicked 2 in both games against the dogs (with 1 GA in one game and 2 GA in the other). If he kicked to his average Sat night we win by 16 points against a team sitting 8th and pushing for finals. Not exactly like this happened against a team like North or WCE. Bulldogs have some very capable defenders that are good matches for our forwards. Not many teams have this.

As for Henry, he isn't a KPF but had 3 marks i50, only Jezza (4) and JUH (4) had more than he did.
He is equal 2nd with Hawkins this year (9) for marks inside 50 this season only behind Jezza (12). So while he isn't a KPF and he is "too small for big defenders" he has been out marking them or smashing his opponents on leads.

Who do you drop for Neale? Stengle? Nope. Henry? Nope. Close or Miers? Absolutely not. Hawkins if he needs a rest but thats the only player who you would take out of the team.
Maybe you consider bringing him in against Melbourne so that Hawk/Neale take May/Lever and play Jezza as a HF and let him go whereever.

So Kolo and Tuohy definitely won't get up. Nothing about Stanley's 200th this week so he's clearly out for Conway.

O'Sullivan debut locked and loaded I reckon.
Interesting take…

I agree that if we don’t see a celebration of his 200 sometime tomorrow it has to be that he has been told it will be in Brisbane or MCG over next couple of weeks? If he is definitely playing they are putting lots of social media out about his 200 tomorrow at latest?

Would love a COS debut, but I doubt it.

Kolo management/injury comes at a perfect time anyway. Norf have got no key forward options outside of Larkey who SDK will take.

We'll need Kolo against Brisbane so it works out well, but both him and Henry don't really have an opponent this week, and COS wouldn't either, unless we're messing with the magnets.

Yep this is the week to go a little smaller in defence..

I would love a COD debut but from the VFL games so far this year he isn't ready maybe towards the end of the year we give him a taste and give him a proper run next year kinda like how we did things with SDK
