We should have all been inspired in our personal lives after the Nat Fyfe we saw on the weekend. To see a true champion stumble through his challenges of injuries and disbelief to come out and do what he did on Sunday. He is a true superstar and deserves more respect than he has sometimes been given. I have been here since 2003 and rarely start a thread, but this man warrants one.

What he has done and what is still doing FreoGirl. Just like Fyfe thanked his midfielder counterpart for taking all the hits in one of his Brownlow year speeches, Nat can now repay the compliment and unleash Caleb to be one the best midfielders weve had since...... well...... Fyfe.

Im convinced Nat can have one of his most influential years at the club and it was no coincidence IMO that Nat and Youngy into the midfield helped Caleb put in that performance on the weekend.

He is a unique sort of individual, maligned in some quarters like only the tallest of poppies can be in Australia and his kryptonite set shot on goal will always have some doubting his place at the very top of our games champions. Not me though, he is a champ through and through, on and off the ground.

If there is a footy god, please let Nat have one, just ONE more, injury free season so we can feast our eyes and widen our smiles one last time.

Great thread. Ok forget the one more year, lets hope it lives on for a few more years yet.

Hear hear. Stuck fat with us in 2017 when it was clear we were years off competing again and he could have walked to any club in the league for a good shot at a flag. We owe him way more than he owes us. It's closer to the end than the beginning of course, let's just enjoy every game he plays from here on

He's always been brilliant AND he has worked so hard to develop his game and his leadership on and off field to continue to improve and make the whole team better. Absolutely amazing player but capped it all off by giving up the chance of greater individual accolades for his club. Pav and Mundy did the same. Freo would not be the same without them.

Great thread. The most important individual in the history of this football club by some distance. Made us relevant when we were a joke organisation in the eyes of most in this competition.

Absolute champion on and off the field.
Still one of our key men in 2024 too and plenty still to offer this year and beyond.

Amazing he got through four quarters. JLo’s tactic to rest him in the 4th quarter last week really worked out.

Carlton will really show us how good our mids are.
Unfortunately it’s an 8 day break for Carlton as well, but on neutral ground.

Could never understand people rushing to throw guys like this on the scrapheap the minute they turn 30 and show the first hint of loss of form.
You could wait 50 years for the privilege of watching a player of the level of Fyfe wear a freo jumper again.
Have heard a lot of people including some prominent freo fan podcasters writing Fyfey off in recent times, almost like they want to be the first to say “he’s done”. Complaining that he's taking midfield minutes from Erasmus?! Lol - Such nonsense.

If Neil plays ONE game in his entire career as good as the champ did tonight, I’ll be impressed.
as long as he’s stays fit and embraces this new handballing role, he should play till he’s 37 if he can.
We are damn lucky to have him.
He’s honestly capable of winning a norm smith in the next 2 or 3 years if the rest of the team can get him to the big dance.

I've actually been really liking Fyfe's forward minutes this season, specifically the Carlton game and tonight, obviously his set shots leave a lot to be desired but jeez he looks dangerous as that part time forward on a mismatch
Fully agree. With the set shots I reckon at this point he just needs to throw the boot at it and abandon any of these techniques he’s trying as they clearly aren’t working.
His handballs are incredible though. So clever and inventive at releasing players on the outside and attacking too, not just backwards safe options
