What's your dream deal?
What do you think is a realistic and achievable deal/ get?
The one I wouldn't mind us going for is young Cooper Lord from Collingwood....heard he goes okay ;)

I’d trade Jack Martin for one of them.

Offer Cunners/Marchbank if need be as steak knives.

Carrol more than likely will get traded back to WA especially with the Campo boys coming in.

I’d say we could acquire one of them if we got creative.

On what planet.... Cunners/marchbank are worthless they aren't even 'steak knives'. Martin is a steak knife.

I for one don’t think we need to change much and saving some dollars this off season for something special over the next 2 seasons sounds about right.

We have Doc and JSOS coming back from injury in 2024 and we will be adding the Campo boys plus upgrading Boyd.

Cut the players we expect and go after a medium forward for GWS in Conor Stone. Use out 1st round pick for a key back.

Maybe trade Pitto if we get a great offer also. But also look into getting Brisbane’s 1st pick this year also.

I hope the list management team are in the ear of Brayden George at North. Explosive, medium forward with strong hands and a good leap who did an ACL in his draft year and drifted from top 10 to mid-20s. Out of contract, yet to debut and being played at halfback by Clarko in the reserves. Sell him the opportunity as Martin's replacement - big club, big crowds, playing finals next to Harry and Charlie and pry him out for not much...

With his injury history, would also be a good replacement for Marchy, Martin and Cunners in the rehab ward

Has had more injuries that kept him out of entire pre season as well, would be a big risk

I'm sure one of these injured comes good trades will "come good" and don't want to be a rain cloud but we would be trying to brick a beautifully laid path that has only lead to the edge of a sink hole thus far!

True, one came dream though. He may well be another Marchbank - the ACL was followed by a dislocated elbow in a freak injury in the gym  and then a dislocated shoulder on the field.

He is though, exactly the type we need (a quick, high marking explosive goal-kicking HF). If the injuries meant he came cheap, he would be worth a punt but is more likely to re-sign with North and not even on the radar.

Would be worth a look at if he came cheap in terms of salary and draft capital. Much like Fantasia this year, don't lose much if it doesn't work out but fills an area of need (3rd forward in this case, small forward in Orazio's case) if it does.

I call absolute rubbish on this. Tyson stengle was delisted by Adelaide due to alcohol and drug issues. Surely that is the exact definition of a better player but unstable.

To their credit they made it work for them but they can hardly claim sainthood. They, like every club, work out the risks and rewards of recruiting all players, good people from good players as well as better players who might be unstable.

Depends if there was an alternative they were comparing him to, and who that player was.

Will Rachelle want to stay at Adelaide the way they tracking- what would he be worth.

You'd think there would have to be a massive falling out with Adelaide for Rachele to get out of there. Contracted to 2029 or something ridiculous. Chasing him is fine but I'd rate him as the longest of long shots.

We did get the better of the Gibbs deal (SOS traded him into Kennedy, O'Brien and the picks for TDK and half of Gov).

And they weren't happy with us getting Gov either. I can't imagine they'd be keen to help us out... either way I'm filing this one under slim to no chance.

I really think Cottrell has upside. He's so fit, can play as a marking and pressure forward, can play as a wing. He's really improved his decision making this year too. Only 24, I think he's still best 22 because of how many roles he can play.
He's great, but to get what we want, probably means trading regular 22 players. Cottrell being traded is unlikely but its an example of what we might have to give.

I'd keep Martin because of his talent level. Probably a top 8 player when he's fit, which is rare.

All of the rest, even if they were fit aren't moving the needle. They're all in the 20th-30th best player range.

We have 2 list positions which are sucking way too many list spots. KPD and small forward.

KPD
Marchbank/Young/Durdin - we have 3 list spots used here, whereas I think Young is sufficient. Marchbank and Durdin should be moved on and we should try and find players who are either better or have greater upside.

Weitering/McGovern/Kemp are our top 3. Young is durable and can do a job subbing in for any of these 3. Durdin and Marchbank are fragile and are not upgrades. List cloggers.

Small Forwards
Motlop Cottrell Hollands Martin Durdin Owies Fantasia Fogarty Cuningham Williams
Because it has been a weakness for us for such a long time, we've thrown 10 list spots at a lot of fringe-level talent.
10 list spots and all of them have played in 2023/2024. Only 5 spots are available in the best 22.
Williams and Hollands are our only locks here.
Martin is the upside.
Fogarty/Cottrell both bring pressure...and we've re-signed Fogarty.
Fantasia, Motlop, Durdin, Owies, Cuningham...gotta cut at least 2 from this group...maybe 3. Cuningham's upside is just not high enough to justify keeping him on the list. Fantasia will have to show a lot more to avoid the chop. Owies perhaps is tradebait. Motlop/Durdin I'd keep because of their upside despite having poor years to date.

Need to sharpen up these 2 positions to get a more balanced list. Because of it, we have an unbalanced list depth-wise.

Agree about Martin, get him fit for one of the next 3 seasons and it could be enough to get us a flag. Marchbank fits into the same category. Marchbank, Young and Durdin is plenty of key defender depth. When fit Marchbank is best 22, because of injuries has no trade value. After clearing out a lot of the dead wood we have plenty of list spots without offloading these two IMO.

Agree on Cuningham, even when fit he's fringe. The small forward list is a bit too long, I agree. Probably look to trade from it. Motlop and Owies are probably safe. But it depends on trade details, who we can get v who teams want.

Who goes depends a lot on who we can get.

I wonder how Hotton doing his ACL will affect his draft value come draft night, but i doubt a player like him would be on our radar considering we will grab two mids in the draft

Normally a lot depends on how things pan out for the rest of the year, we backed in the forever injured from the back half of last year because they all had a great run without breaking down, while making good contributions to the team in the back half run to the finals, particularly Martin…

Now we are back to square one with them again, talented or traits we require or need should not get in the way of us making the right decision for the short and medium term benefit of the club, no more carrying players who cannot be relied on to be available, it’s time to move on or we’re going to regret the decision that will restrict us the longer we wait…

Thanks very much but we are moving on, best of luck…

Martin Marchbank Cuningham

S.Durdin Akuie Mirkov - rookies

Carroll-trade ? to help aquire a much greater need
Young-trade if there’s any possibility

Key Defender is essential, draft and or trade in as well…
Midfield skill & speed
Forward class & hurt factor

Taj hotton was playing mid and half forward before the acl l thought. Looked really good in both. Probably my favourite for our pick.

Why do you think we are taking 2 mids. I would’ve thought small medium forwards and key defender are just as likely.

Agreed. Absolute horse droppings. They were heavily linked with Taryn Thomas earlier this year. To even consider that - their standards are less than zero. Mooney's coach was dealing for how many years? Great character.

The Campo twins are two mids, i think wed will only take one other pick at the draft outside of these two.

As much as i dont trust Young, you can’t trade him, when he’s our only key defensive back up, it would be crazy, even if you were to get a better replacement, you’d then need to replace Durdin.

If we can bring in a better key defender than Young, awesome, Young would then be the upgrade on Durdin and wed be in a much better spot.

I think Carrol will go, pending the arrival of Lord and the two Campos, his playing time is already limited and he will struggle next year.

Im a bit confused as to why Durdin was signed for two years and Owies is still un signed, i know he has limitations but effort, durability and output is pretty solid.
