Jake needs to run up the ground somewhat to burn his opponent off and work him around.

Waterman is great leading out but he isnt a stay at home full forward. He is a mobile forward who is good on the lead, good hands and set shot.

Plenty of room for Waterman and Oscar. Add a resting ruck and Maric as a rotation and our talls are set.
I agree. They are completely different forwards with different strengths.
Waterman's endurance means that he can run further up field and be a chop out down the line (which we're currently using Darling/B Williams as) and Allen can be stationed as the deep i50 option.
Given their ages that's a great combination for the next 5-7 years.

Have pretty strong word that TB is keen to head east and that a few of the other players went away with him over the weekend on a last ditch effort to get him to stay.

Collingwood at this stage is his preferred destination. He is good mates with Darcy Cameron.

However I do not think the Pies have a first rounder as they traded it for Schultz.

Busslinger regardless of whether TB goes or stays is keen to come.

Trade Allen & Barrass equals destination club:think:
But everyone wants to keep Harley
I'm missing something here.
Oscar isn't being traded, a given. TB slightly less likely.
Enjoy the banter, though.
Maric HB/wing I'm in though. Need good delivery into F50 rather than bombing on player's heads.

For Pies to land TB they will need to get very creative. They are pretty ruthless.

Collingwood's F1st alone wont cut it.

Demattia I recall was a rated mid taken at pick 25 who is good mates with Harley, Vic Country. Or some such.

F1, Ed Allan and Harry DeMattia.

DeMattia and a F1 would likely do it.

Allan seems to be taking his time.

Recall we were also keen on Carmichael 190cm mid / fwd at some point and he is only 24. Seems to be almost get an opportunity then picks up a niggle.

Allan could go to Freo and Erasmus to the Eagles in a three way?

Barrass is worth a top 10 pick straight up, KPP are some of the most valuable players as they take so long to develop. Pies have nothing close to that.

I don't think they even have players they could trade to us. They're either older guns that don't have enough time left on their career, marquis players like Daicos (who aren't going anywhere), or young guys playing roles (who could develop into stars later but why risk that when we can get that from the draft).

Collingwood is built on system and a few gun players holding it together. The guns won't be leaving and the others are role players who will look dead average in another team. If TB asks to go to Collingwood we'll have to stick him to his contract.

Allan was always going to be a slow burn but will have 2 years of development under his belt. I loved DeMattia last year but had a bad finger injury start of the year. Gee adding freo in would be interesting, I’d rather get one of their 1R picks than Erasmus.

Net result
Collingwood F1+ Collingwood R1 (From Freo) + DeMattia for Barrass…

You pulling the trigger?

Brought a tear to my eye writing it but I’m looking at what Sydney’s likely to want the most and that’s unfortunately the likely answer. Established gun KPF as part of a huge flag window with a young midfield. Of course we can say no but is trading Oscar worth it if we keep our 2025 R1 and 2026 R1?

I don’t even want to give an opinion on it.
Yeah but warner will be out of contract so they can have our picks which will be better than freo's, no need to be generous

Rather than losing yeo, Tb or Allen, what we really need is father/son prospect banfield to dominate the remainder of the year. If underager banfield looks to be a top 10 pick in 2025 we should trade our f1 for this years gold coast pics 8 & 10. Walk away with pic 3,8,10 and bid on banfield with some fourth rounders in 2025, bliss
Save it for warner

As the ladder stands now, GC also hold picks 26, 31 and 55 worth 1537 points, which is currently able to match a bid at pick 5. They could live trade pick 26 during the draft, which should see be able to match a bid at pick 4 (1627 points).

We have to wait and see if changes to the bid matching and/or points system will be brought in to effect this season or next season.

GC should be wanting to trade picks in to the future, and might not necessarily need that much of a points upgrade. Would your F1 + 23 be worth 8, 11 & 26? GC could then flip 23 for more points.

Still leaves GC pck 20 to trade for Dan Rioli.

Possibly, to be fair Uwland (2025) is looking every bit of a top 10 pick, they might be keen to gamble on our F1 - hoping that it comes in before a Uwland bid.

Twomey did make sure to mention he expects teams to be able to trade firsts 2 years in advance. So Pies could offer their F1 (2025) and F1 (2026) - not saying they would, but we’d probably ask for that.

Definitely prefer to deal him to the Dogs.

Even if pies had a first rounder it wouldn't be enough. Either junk mail or TB is delusional

Heard the scuttlebutt on Barass and wanted to politely enquire to those in the know about Barass’ injury history over the last few years? I’ve just heard vagaries like ‘hasn’t played a full season in x years’ - but is his body relatively sound? No recurrent soft tissue injuries etc?

Excuse the intrusion, I won’t get into haggling as I’m sure I’ll swiftly be shown the door. Just more interested in player background is all.

**** I wish Harley Reid played for the Pies btw - kid looks like a generational talent.

So why did TB extend last year when considering the same option, only to come back to it this year??

Not having a dig, genuinely trying to understand

I don't see how losing TB and Yeo we don't go backwards.

You'd be replacing Barrass who is an A grader, with Edwards who is yet to show he's got what it takes. Can you imagine him on Harry McKay?

Yeo is still our best midfielder.
It will be a while before Ginby or Hewett get to be half as good as Yeo, if ever.

Agree to disagree.
Its true we do rely on those two more than we should, but we will need to replace them at some point.
Im not mega confident Yeos groin lasts a few more years, and Baker as shown to be a capable mid over the last few weeks.

HEdwards is no TB, but I dont think itd be awful to have him as our main FB, we would still be better off than most clubs for KPDs.

Baker + natural improvement + adding Hewett/Sheldrick to offset Yeo somewhat (also the extra mid numbers means we wont have any need for Sheed, which is another huge improvemement)

Incorrect, Jake has shown this year he can play as a stay at home forward and clunk marks close to goals.
He has always done this at wafl level but has obviously always been behind kennedy, darling, Allen so has been played up the ground
Given the opportunity this season he's shown what he can do.
It'll be interesting to see how they manage the forward line once allen is back

Apparently his back is knackered. Seems pretty durable regardless

He had some fractures in his spine after being tunnelled by Jack Reiwoldt last years. They’ve healed, are stable and won’t affect his football output but will likely cause some pain and decreased mobility particularly as he ages. Otherwise his recent injury history is pretty good.

I’m not sure if GC will be that interested in getting ahead of an academy bid, more so just having the picks to match another four kids. They have another kid in their academy called Patterson, who’s widely regarded as the most talented kid out of QLD next year.
