The pathways into the AFL is interesting as to the age players are talent identified - i.e. formally part of an elite program. There is an 8 year old Melbourne boy who recently was invited to a training camp by Juventus. Was rated top 3 at the camp for his age. They are already putting plans in place, discussing options for him to sign up. At 8 years old!

That said watching junior footy you can see even at that age some kids are just a class above already. They just don't get signed professionally for another 10 years....
There’s A LOT of money in football so the talent identification starts very early, looking at players as young as 5 years old.

Every club has academies for almost every age group, it’s brutal, very much a numbers game tens of thousands of kids are hoovered up and spat out if they don’t make the grade.

Once they hit their early teens they’ve identified the kids who are talented enough to maybe have a chance of making it but even then it’s a long shot that they’ll make it to the Premier League only .5% of academy prospects actually play first team football.

Jack Petrie kick follow through very Drew-like.

No issue with Demetriou there, he was doing a job and we had a board actively working to the same end. Didn't like it one bit but if his lad has the makings of a player it'd be cutting our nose territory to rule him our over history.

I’m convinced Vlad Jr is trolling his old man by forcing him down to these things once a year.

But what’s more likely is Vlad Junior probably supports the club because his dad played there and doesn’t see him as the AFL ex CEO with a questionable history.

Vlad has always maintained he remained a North “fan”

So I imagine Sacha is and these sorts of days/clinics for the young kids only ingrain it.

In fact it would be some sort of Shakespearean storyline if Sacha ended up a genuine gun of the comp for the Roos.

I wonder if the kid backs Crown Casino with the same enthusiasm.

I'd accept the spawn of Satan as Father/Demon if he could hit a target.
