I reckon that’s a bit shitty. A lot of them would still love the opportunity to come to the club and get involved I’m sure
That's a real missed opportunity by the club, we need all the supporters / members we can get. Why not get the sons of all fathers who played for North down for at least part of these training days, make them feel special and fall in love with the club. Do something additional more personalised for the boys who qualify under the father / son rule.

Sacha’s on a similar trajectory to Sam Harris was last year.

He’s currently u15’s and been one of the best for his league (the YJFL) in the Vic Metro interleague series carnival completed in that age group.

It’s usually a good indication of those likely to progress to Vic Metro selection at the u16 national carnival the following year (the one Sam Harris is currently playing in) which is the first real major stepping stone in the recruitment process.

It’s bad timing in a way given the rules are about to be tightened, but we definitely have a promising group of FS’s on the way.

Sacha’s year will be the first Tasmanian draft also, so if he becomes a top prospect we circumvent their early picks in a way.
The pathways into the AFL is interesting as to the age players are talent identified - i.e. formally part of an elite program. There is an 8 year old Melbourne boy who recently was invited to a training camp by Juventus. Was rated top 3 at the camp for his age. They are already putting plans in place, discussing options for him to sign up. At 8 years old!

That said watching junior footy you can see even at that age some kids are just a class above already. They just don't get signed professionally for another 10 years....

Kids are scouted from a younger age here still.

But much like the European football leagues, nothing is really taken seriously until prospects hit the u/18 circuit.

There’s academies and inter academy games and tournaments and u/15, u16’s etc

But not a heap of weight is placed on them until 15 or 16 year olds hit u18 soccer.

Remembering they aren’t “signed up”. They are on scholar programs etc. they don’t sign professional contracts until they are 16 either and are feee to move between academies.

So it’s more similar than you think.

Yeah, that was my point. Would be a great initiative by the club to get them all back. Would be an awesome day for the kids regardless. A parent/child day - your parent played a game you get an invite.
I see Shannon Grant bought his daughter but they took that main portrait without her. Would be great if some of the daughters get a kick next year too

Hopefully the boys were told not to go to Sydney for holiday....otherwise they'll become eligible for the Swans academy zone.

Nothing against the Demetriou boy but his old man can bugger off. Looks like Judas in the group photo.

Remember....if he had his way when he was running the show....we'd be on the Gold Coast right now.

Anyways...lets hope someone got into Petrie's ear about coming back as a forward coach.
