Said it for a few weeks now - Please go after Garcia. Reports on the Dogs board that he's gone end of year due to a lack of opportunities, has serious agility and game smarts. Disposal is shaky but his speed, tackling and stoppage work is fantastic.
He came into the AFL game yesterday as the sub after Treloar pulled out late. One of the rare times that the sub didnt make it onto the ground, which was strange considering the game wasnt a blow out. Wouldnt cost a huge amount and the team could definitely use some extra speed.

Is that the right thing though?

I would much rather our forwards be more selfish and ruthless with getting the job done.

Making sure the goal is kicked is more important than making your teammate feel warm and fuzzy.
Missed this game and having a read to see how the guys went. This comment made me laugh. Exact opposite sentiment to the other autopsy thread....

Beaten by a narrow margin again. This time 79-88 we blew it when we gave up 4 goals in time on in the 3rd to go from an 8 point lead to a 16 point deficit. Hewett and Carroll got leather poisoning (and Hayes again) and Lewis Young and Sam Durdin both stood up well as key defenders. If they drop Marchbank - and he should be dropped on last night's performance, but maybe they want to give him 2 in a row - then both are showing decent form. Young has probably been better the last 2 weeks but poor b efore that, Durdin has been more consistently decent. Maybe if Weiters needs a break they could both come in. Carroll was off for a while in the last - hopefully nothing to worry about but I don't see him pushing into the team anyway. Orazio went off injured in Q1 and Jack Martin was activated. Jack didn't do much but first game back after a long lay-off. Other than Hewett, Hayes Carroll and Lewis Young no-one cracked 20 possessions. Motlop only 13 possessions but did look dangerous when he got it and his 9 tackles was second only to Hewett's 10. Binns and Lord were quieter than they have been, Moir busier (still only 13 possessions) but none seemed to be knocking the door down for selection in the ones. Cuningham only 18 possessions and not as silky with them s usual. My view is either Young or Durdin for Marchbank - maybe both if Weiters needs a rest or they decide against the Pitto/TDK combination. Hewett or maybe Jack Carroll if we want more grunt in the middle - prefer Hewett but question is whether we need more one-paced mids, even one as good as Hewett. Maybe Kennedy may need a spell and either of them could cover his midfield role but neither has his marking presence. Williams was subbed off in the ones but unless they bring in Motlop or gamble on Jack Martin off only a short game back I don't know we have a like-for-like replacement.

Just returned from being there live. Disappointing loss but a few observations from some key senior listed players.

Motlop - may not have looked like he had a big day on the stats sheet BUT his liveliness, his workrate & pressure was outstanding. When he tackled he tackled with agression. Will be disappointed if he’s not an inclusion next week as the Zaccy replacement.

Martin - played limited minutes but cracked in and was ultra classy when he did get the ball. Does he come in for Fogarty who has been poor the last two games?

Cuningham - moved as well I’ve seen him for a while. His burst and sidestep was good and he looks like a player confident in his body. Should have had a couple of goals but a little wayward in those blustery conditions.
Easy swap for Cottrell for mine who was horrible yesterday.

Hewitt - strong and clean around stoppage and worked his ass off. Something to be said about our midfield getting beaten the last two matches since he’s been out of the team…

Moir - played with the most intensity I’ve seen from him all year. Annoyed we continue playing him on the wing becuase I just think he gets lost out there and he is particularly dangerous forward of the ball. Liked his game.

Lord - found a player here. Tough, clean, good mover and has a huge kick on him just needs to work hard both ways. Opponent got goal side on him at a few stoppages and he was burnt. He’s a selfless player however and does a lot of work off the ball to create space for his teammates. Will thrive in an AFL environment.

Carroll - another dominant performance. Brilliant through traffic and his disposal was actually pretty good today given the conditions. Frustrating why he hasn’t put it together at AFL level given the class he displays in the 2’s.

Binns - worked hard as always and you can’t deny he busts his gut. Perhaps not engineering as much of the footy this year. I think majority of supporters feel Ollie H needs a spell - is it time to have a look at Binns for a 2-3 game period? I fear however his papers are stamped.

S.Durdin. Was channeling his inner Weitering in the first half. Would love to see him given another opportunity at AFL level this year. We’re obviously a little vulnerable in the KPD department and agree with previous poster earlier suggesting he’s perhaps a better pure defender than Marchbank.

Lemmey, O’Keefe & Mirkov battled away. They’re ’almost there’ type of players. I like Lemmey but he reminds me a little of Josh Schache in that he just lacks a bit of competitiveness and mongrel for a key position player. The upside is there and I hope we persevere with him.

A few thoughts after watching this one:
  • Hewett is a must for next week. He’s the exact grunt our midfield needs.
  • Motlop didn’t have his best day but he’s banked a solid month in the VFL and I’d be playing him for the injured Williams.
  • Cuningham was ok without being at his best but again he’s banked a good month at the level and he’s got some composure and class which we should see at senior level this week over either Cotts or O Hollands.
  • Carroll is a very good VFL player. Not sure there’s a spot for him in the seniors though.
  • Good that Martin got through on managed minutes but he’ll certainly need another hit out at VFL level to find touch.
  • If Gov doesn’t come up, I’d strongly consider S Durdin for Marchbank. Had a very solid game today.

Motlop 9 tackles, that's awesome for a forward and awesome for someone who's been criticised for his lack of defensive acts. Well done.

I didn't see the game. Did Cuningham play on a wing or in the middle again?

There should be some promotions and demotions this week. If Voss wants to lose the players the best way it BS selection. Can't keep playing **** players and not rewarding those who play well in the VFL. That's how you lose the players.

Cuningham played predominantly wing in the first half and then predominantly midfield in the second half. Had some stints at half forward too.

How do you rate his pace?
