Lindsay was as impressive as always in difficult conditions, winning plenty of the ball and battling to hit targets through the tricky wind. Swimming the channel, climbing mount Everest, and kicking goals into the wind at Williamstown oval... these are some of the toughest challenges known to mankind, but Xavier and his Gippsland teammates made it look easy in the fourth quarter as they pulled away to record an impressive win.

Cal Twomey suggested we could trade Baker and Bolton to Fremantle for picks 6, 12, 15, and then Dan Rioli to Gold Coast for picks 7 and 10 (we'd likely have to give a sweetener back the other way).

How would people feel about this? I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Rocking up to the draft with 1, 6, 7, 10, 12, 15 plus possibly a couple of second rounders, that's a crazy start to a rebuild.

Yes, then split pick 1 for a godfather offer. Jesus Christ I don’t care if we get the spoon this is gonna be elite.

The way things are going for us I'd pencil them in for a flag if we did that
While their first pick is stripped for some weird breach of the rules

What pick do we expect Murphy Reid to go?
I have him at 5-8. Many draft analysts have him Top 10 but I've also seen him out in the teens. He's a terrific player no doubt about that.

Any order 11-15

Deep draft.

No you draft based on what they have showed from U16's through to their last game of U18's with the view of how well that will translate. Which when fit FOS showed last year why he was the no.1 player in this draft and we can use those performances against the other draftees who have been able to get on the track and perform this year. Like the game below for example.

You weren't talking about our pick 1, you were talking about 2024 performances and I named 5 guys who have arguably performed better. Smilie has gone from being overrated to being underrated very quickly, his Coates league form was very good, he played well vs VFL sides for the AFL academy and while he is champs was underwhelming that in part had to do with the amount of hype he had in the lead up.

Gone off him, for number 1 pick, on this showing...nice player though, takes a good grab, good kick, hangs around the fringes...
For a number 1 draft pick I would want a player able to exert influence on the game's progress...

Would you use pick 1 on him ?
It’s all opinion based and how much improvement you think he has in him, so it’s a fair bit of crystal balling from all of us.
I think it’s a good bet that he’s going to be a very good AFL player and you could argue it’s a safe bet to take him at one, but imo there’s more dynamic options with greater upside.
Also, he’ll get monstered at AFL level, you see the size of AFL mids today, even the shorter mids have body mass/strength.
I think we will be looking for outside midfielders to rotate through and to complement TT and Hopper. Langord and Lombard seem ideal. Maybe we could force a pick swap with GC in return for bidding on Ashcroft first and Langford second and not bidding on Lombard. Jagga Smith seems unlikely to still be available at our second pick unfortunately. Who would still be available at the start of the second round.
