It's simple - we tolerate mediocrity and have gone away from being a high-achieving, performance-driven organisation.

A proper review would result in breaking up the boys club and the board... We don't do that here sadly.
Sadly, the board are more interested in running a protection racket of mediocrity rather than running a high performance club.

How about Ian Shuttleworth? His handling of the media around the camp situation made it so much worse.

Our issue is unlikely the people in our media dept. They’re largely a message outward function. The types of cockups we’re talking about are where the higher get involved as it’s crisis management situation. They determine the strategy and then deploy the media arm to push the message out.

It was only a couple of weeks ago that that peanut from Ch10 was running with Burgo to Carlolton so most of this is made up crap. Although would be somewhat reassured if it was refuted by either club or Draper's camp in this instance.

If true the lad has no choice. these post 2000 born kids need to harden up.. truly the snowflake generation BUT our club is truly toxic and i cant see us getting out of the bottom 4 for years to come.

Makes me want Draper even more if it's true tbh

Do you have something against having a 6pm local news bulletin? Is that not cool or something? Where does the super intellectual Capster get his news from? We have the 7pm ABC news on too, if that helps with our household cred.
What, you going to ask for my manager next 🤣

Anyway aren’t there rules about this sort of thing?

Wants to play for a “big Victorian club”. What does that mean for West Coast or North.

If this is true, AFL should make him sit the draft out this year.

You've found the real reason he is saying it. The AFL will tolerate Victorian kids not wanting to leave their home state but SA and WA lads who want to be taken at the very pointy end of the draft (and get the career benefits that go with that) have to make the majority of the league comfortable that they won't lose them back to their home state.

Every draftee will have some interview about being happy to play anywhere or actively wanting to play in Melbourne.

Rankine copped it in his draft year for saying he wanted to stay in SA and play for us.

Jeez the smells of absolute horsesh!t to me. Rachele himself came out and confirmed he was dropped not because of that one incident, but for several. The general consensus was that the ‘No teeth’ comment was fine before the match, a bit of rivalry, but the leadership group asked him not to do anything during the game so as to not bring the crowd into it. The minute that happened Port turned the tide in the game and the momentum shifted, not to mention Rankine was floored.

I think they were clear to point out they want Rachele to have a personality, and play to the Crowd, but if the leadership team are asking you not specifically to do something, and you keep going against them, you’ll be punished

It's not all one way. The media team should also be advising management on how to present / spin the story. That's why you hire experienced media people. Problems arise when management ignore the advice from professionals (or indeed when the professionals' advice is not competent, or they don't push hard enough).
