Unfortunately for the Dogs he's OOC, coming off an ACL and has had a case of the sniffles off field.

They're not in a strong bargaining position and with a bit of unknown regarding anyone coming off a knee I can see why Geelong aren't prepared to offer more.

Players in contract like a Houston, Lukosius and Noble give clubs so much more leverage to wield. For someone like Richards however we'll be glad if we walk away with 39.

So do they accept 17 or lose him for nothing? It's unlikely he wont make his way to Geelong via any draft though it would be hilarious to see that happen.

If we had the salary space (doubtful) and a pick before Geelong could Naicos convince him? Could he? That would be next level hilarious.
They are very close friends.

If the Dogs get lucky they might get 17 and a pick upgrade of 38 (or F2) for Smith + 48 (or F3).

While we hate him Mackie stood firm with his offer on the OOC Henry and he'll look to use the same playbook again. 17 might be it.

Pick 17 and 38 (or WB 35) could be used to see if they can push up the order.

Dogs have no hand here. Cats can just walk Smith to the PSD

They can’t really. But if he nominates for the national draft, Geelong can probably pick him up with that same pick #17. Much like we did with Luke Ball.
