Got a few Irish friends and it seems the "S" is pronounced "SH" depending on the vowels around it...so with the "IS" Aisling is comes out "Ashling", Roisin pronounced "Rosheen". Then we do have Sinead, which is "Shinaid"...so it works in reverse too.Good one.
