Yeah Daniels even refers to Bunbury being the likely venue, probably more to play out there still so can't be confirmed yet.
Being able to schedule when you arrive and leave is still a big benefit too, no airport wait or the other rigamarole.

You'd expect it to be alternated, but obviously there's still one team that will get more benefit.
If you were North you'd likely want West Coast at Optus given their larger supporter base.

I think it's a good deal for NM. In 2023 they played 2 games at Optus decided by less than a kick, 1 win and 1 loss but made $0. Next year they'll play 2 games in WA and make 2 million dollars.

Googlemaps says Cockburn to Bunbury is a 97 minute drive, doubt we'll fly.

Apparently WC are going there next year so we have 19 months to plan.
Nah, by the time you factor in the airport transfers and waiting it'll just about be quicker to drive. Bus rides in my day were also team bonding, especially when you get the win and can call into a few pubs on the way home.

Nah Pav was a better footballer too. Probably close to the best ever of his type (Genuine all positions utility. Could play HBF, CHB, Onball, HFF, CHF and FF). Take the midfielders gongs off Fyfe he's not that stand out as an onballer compared to the other very best players in that position in his generation. (Don't get me wrong: great player.)
could not disagree more.
Pav was amazing, but he was never close to the best player in the game.
Fyfe was easily in the conversation as the best in the game until injuries tore him apart.

I think they both have huge strengths but the downside makes it very hard to choose if you had to.

Fyfe was GOAT level for 100 games when he wasn't injured. Prime Fyfe was as good as any player, ever. 2015 till he got kneed was so exciting, he was embarrassing teams as they couldn't tackle him.

Pav was A grade is all positions except ruck for 300 games. Prime Pav as a forward was top shelf but not Goat level.

I think I'm taking Pav over Fyfe if I am drafting every time but picking Fyfe with our current team would get us a flag if his Prime lined up with the rest of the team.

I hate these deals. It's a slippery slope and before you know it, the whole game is pay TV only and you price out the lowest socioeconomic members of society or fail to capture new markets because they won't pay to experience.

Governments fund 100's of millions into the game via stadiums and grass root grants. They need to stop them taking it off live free to air tv or turn off the gravy train.

This is my big frustration with only showing the big drawing teams on FTA Tv.

How can they gain more members, if less people watch them

Should mean all our delayed games are done in that first 2 months?

Might actually help people out, beforehand our 3 games were spread out for the season, now U can get kayo for 2 months and ditch it if you only watch freo
Great idea. Do they still do the 28 day trial? It wouldnt be hard to open two email accounts and run two back to back free trials, then just never subscribe.

We being wedgied again for sure!
There was probably a medieval torture model for this?

Pav was such a good leader.
With the Fyfe vs Pav thing, Pav takes the chocolates through leadership, longevity and loyalty (the South Australia boy stocking fat with the shot WA team) Being able to kick goals at the right time was massive.
Fyfe was a bull, at his peak he carried the team.
He didn't enspire the team. And kicking for goals in clutch moments.😭.

Pav at his best could do all 3.

8 goals 14
5 out on the full

Mmmmmm
The exact reason I don’t want to see us going into another prelim or GF over the next few years with the likes of Banfield and Switta or even Fyfe taking on those set shots for goal. Those chances are precious in a granny. 8-14 with 5 more OOF is just disgusting, ugh.

We have seen this movie before.
We need to have players like Treacy and Sturt with the ball in their hands for these clutch moments. 2023 Jye Amiss too, this years version has a bit of work to do still..

Just saying 8-14 with 5 out on the full diminishes just how bad the wind was on the day. That game was the perfect example to show the difference between playing there all the time and knowing how the wind works versus never playing there and having no idea.

i find it bizarre too. My parents didn't follow football and I played bball after the success of the NBA highlights on Sat mornings and the Wildcats in the late 80s. I only started watching AFL on FTA in y11 and 12 when procrastinating and when WC was up and winning finals. If I hadn't had access to the games, I possibly never would have gotten into it. That's the risk with the current strategy. May make more money out of us that follow the games, but young me will not join the party. Like the drop off in interest in watching bball once they took it off FTA. Seems shortsighted. Will also affect equality as the few games on FTA in Vic only show the big clubs consistently at the top and the kids without parental brainwashing will only follow one of them.
