Port only want to do the trade for 13 to get 10 do they not??

is it more about a player at 10 or are they trying to offload 13?

I think 10 is worth quite more than 13 in terms of ability to access certain players but I do not know which players the clubs are chasing
Nah thanks but no thanks port, 10 is off the table.

Not really, we did pay too much for pick 20.

The club probably thought we would have picks 1,6,10,11,18,20,23,24 so keeping one of our picks in the 40's was not important enough at the end of the day.
Brisbane also probably didn't want to give us 20 if we didn't give them what they got. I'm sure another side could have offered them points for it if our deal broke down.

The club also probably wasn't prepared to take all 11 picks (1,6,10,11,18,23,24,32,42,43,45) into the draft.
Sadly Melbourne paid less for Essendon pick 9.

I hate the idea of losing 6 in order to get 2, but 6 makes so much sense if North are trying to get Tauru and are trying to get in front of St Kilda. Seems odd to over pay to trade down just to get someone they may as well just pick at 2.

For the deal for be worthwhile for North they probably need to get like 6 and something else from us this year so they can get Tauru and someone else in the top 20 without the Tauru pick being such a big reach at 2. Their future first is enticing but is that really going to be any better than who we pick at 6 and is it really worth giving it up to get our top 2 choices in the draft? It really comes down to how we rate the top 6 and if we are content with 1 and ANY of the guys touted to be within that top 6 first tier of players (excluding Ashcroft).

It might be better to just really hold out and hope they either pick Tauru at 2 which means someone else might slip to us, or we wait until they get desperate and give us an offer we can't refuse. It feels a lot more like pick 2 is on the table rather than we are trying to obtain it.

the thing it is not just the pick 6, it is also the later pick whether 18-24 and who are we giving up for that?

In a shallow draft hell yeah, but looking at these phantom's some of these guys projected later are not total spuds

if we lost a pick if we could it would be handy to pick up another pick somewhere else if possible in this draft as we have 8 spots

I like how people are coming full circle on Josh Smillie at 6... still think he will be the best in the draft
I dont think anybody is 'coming a full circle on Josh Smillie' I would doubt anybody wants him at pick #1 / #2
But they are open to taking him at pick #7 as thats his value

You know it's time to take a break from this draft pick nonsense when you have a dream (more like a nightmare) where the AFL came in and ruled that Carlton had been unfairly treated, saints were penalised and had to give the blues all their picks. Carlton then had picks 3, 7, 8, traded pick 8 to GWS for picks 15, 16. They then traded pick 7 & 15 to North for pick 2 and went to the draft with picks 2,3 & 16.

he could be a inbetweener flop, who knows?? where will he play over the journey??

I cannot see clubs overall racing up to necessarily grab him too high

he could become a star , but nothing obviously is certain

Blair might have better insights with club connections

#6 + #11 for #2 + F1

That just makes so much sense in so many ways

  • Move up to #2
  • Get NorF's F1
  • 2 picks for 2 picks

nope, as good as Finn may be he is not Harley Reid so he is not bullet proof

I think it is a stupid conversation, that is being generated by North and/or the media

North should be talking 6 and 18 to 24 to raise interest.

If Tauru is that good why not RFC pick him at 6 and if North do not like it pick Tauru at 2

North are allowed to pick Tauru at 2, if they want to second guess themselves why put that problem onto others?
