Still reckon no injury will ever top astbury getting stung by a sting ray

Backyard blitz leaves Brad Ottens stuck

A bit of backyard DIY went horribly wrong for the Richmond ruck-forward after the 2002 season. The No.2 draft pick from 1997 fell from a tree while trying to hang an outdoor swinging chair and landed on what he described as "a broomstick-sized" garden stake, which got stuck in his thigh. Ottens spent two days in hospital having the wound treated but was back to full fitness by early December. However, his 2003 season was derailed by back surgery just before the opening round, wiping out the first half of his campaign.

Short snippet from lord Caesar

Junior: appears to have come back in good shape for the first time in his career.
Blight: the hardest worker on the track today, slimmed down, maybe he can be a poor mans David Astbury and fill a role.
Bauer: who last year did virtually nothing pre & post Christmas is training fully and was one of the last to leave the track, (would be nice if Ben Serpell has already waved his magic hamstring wand ;) )

Banksy has been in rehab the first 3 sessions along with Brown who of course had both shoulders tightened about a month apart in the off-season.

He’s an absolute gem
I’ve asked him a few times to post on here but he’s content just giving PRE his reports

Definitely worth heading over during the pre season and following his training thread

Yeah he's a legend. I signed up last year just for the training reports.

This not aimed at Sonsie, as that was a great kick that hit target, but use your left FFS!!!! vast number of AFL players kick lower % on the right like that, abysmal that opposite foot skills are overlooked. Rant over

if theres one player on our list that id call dual sided, its Sonz

Landscape has changed in regard to opposite foot kicking. Opposite foot only needs to be serviceable if you have an elite preferred. Dusty mastered the art of being able to deliver off the outside of his foot. I was watching a training session with Petracca in Noosa during the week and he was doing the exact thing that Sonsie did.

Richmond mid-season draftee Jacob Blight, who hails from Albany, returned to Punt Road on Monday for the club’s first pre-season session.

The Railways product, who spent some time in Albany during the off-season break, is taking part in his first proper AFL pre-season after being taken with the Tigers’ No.2 mid-season draft pick last year.

The 196cm 22-year-old key defender played three matches for the Tigers last season and may get more opportunities following the departure of retiring stalwart backman Dylan Grimes.

Brookton-Pingelly junior Steely Green joined Blight on Monday and is undertaking his third pre-season since being drafted in 2022.

Since then the lively 20-year-old pressure forward has played six games, which all came last season.

Lake Grace star and new West Coast Eagles recruit Liam Baker was absent from the club’s first pre-season hit out on Monday.

The club welcomed their first-to-fourth-year players but the hard-nosed 26-year-old small utility is expected to join the squad in a fortnight following his move West from Richmond through the trade period.

All good , I utterly understand what you are saying with todays footy, especially as I actively watch a sydney clubs academy program. Only small proportion of AFL players have 'servicable' opposite foot and Im just whinging as I am a fat old fart who thinks of the glory days when opposite foot kicking was a desired dark art, lol

Haha I know exactly where you’re coming from. Don’t even get me started about kicking around corners especially for goal
