teams will have to worry about chom like they do with jeremy mcgovern

they will start to play a negating role on him

He's going to have to do this regularly to be at that level. Remember last week he looked at sea aerially against a better player than Disco Turner or Jacob Van Whoyen

Nothing wrong with his 1v1 positioning yesterday either.

At one stage he was caught on an island with JVR (I think it was) about 20m out straight in front and put his fist through the ball to kill the contest. He'll be fine.

He did do it regularly last year. The sample size is now 20+ games.

I wonder what people were watching with the criticism.

Absolutely MILES better than the next young KPD for intercept marks and intercept possessions last year.

He was about 40% better than Mac Andrew, then the next best anywhere near his age was Sam Taylor who is 2 years old than him. The others on his stat line were McGovern, Harris Andrews, Tom Barrass and Liam Jones. All senior players..

He ranked in the top 4 intercept defenders last year and he played a bunch of games as a forward to destroy his averages. He would have been the #1 or #2 intercept mark in the league last year otherwise.

He just gets lost when he has to tight check as a stopper.

If we can release him like West Coast have McGovern for a decade, he will fill his cupboard with AA jackets.

The best key defender in terms of pure stopping, 1 vs 1 wins, 1 vs 1 loss % and number of spoils in 2024 was Jacob Weitering.

Givens Carlton's trajectory at the moment. He should be the #1 trade target to pry out at the moment.

Statistically, he is the absolute perfect defensive partner for Charlie at the moment. There isn't a better match in the league and he could quite possibly be gettable and probably not cost the earth (I mean multi top 10 picks etc) given his age.

Would very much be Clarko's version of the Brian Lake recruitment here imo.

Would be a Glass/McGovern type partnership.

Carlton don't have a R1 pick this year either. West Coast have it, they used it to get up for Jagga Smith. So will be chasing draft capital. He's contracted there for another 6 years also...

There is no way on earth that Jacob Weitering is leaving Carlton for anything less than a Kings ransom sorry to break it to you. Absolutely none.

Loved the Chom's game on the weekend. Was awesome in the air.

Not that he’ll ever come but we are offering Maynard a prince ransom, I’m sure we could but it up to a kings for wietering

He's 28 years old next year.

Carlton don't have a first round pick this year.

My point being, it's now or never for some of these players in terms of real value before Tassie come in and nuke the following 3 years of drafts, mini drafts etc.

We probably would give him and you a kings ransom in all honesty, it's just unlikely going to be what it was 2-3 years ago in terms of pick positions.

We don't have a round 1 pick next year either, so might be impossible to make Carlton happy, even in the hugely unlikely event that a trade was possible.

I thought Will Dawson looked good in the magoos yesterday. I was particularly impressed with his one on one work and use of his body against his opponent. He is still very young and very raw, but at 202cm I think he is a great prospect for the big 1 v 1 defender role. Hopefully kicking the door down for a senior role in 2026.

We don't really need picks this year given our NGA and F/S kids coming through that we have to match and you also don't have a first rounder to give this year which would be the only thing of any value to us.

Next year we pretty much have as close to a guaranteed top 3 pick in Cody Walker as a F/S so any pick you gave us would be useless for next year too.

If we were nuking the list Weitering would be the last of the top liners to go, I can say that with almost certainty. Mckay and Walsh would go well before him.

A fit Logue would be a good start.
