Same. Daicos, Sheezel, Colby all did their apprenticeship as distributors off HB. Not having to cop the physical load of playing on the ball while still getting full games at AFL level instead of reserves. All ball magnets that are dangerous in space but not the most physical players. Just like...
Crows don’t have that pick though. They’ve already traded this year and next year second round picks.
I agree though, we need to do something with 38 or it’ll get swallowed by a bid
Bye Bam Bam. I’ll miss the grunt work. Reckon Cripps will too.
Sounds like he’s a real positive influence around the whole club as evidenced by the best clubman award. Hard to replace that.
Regarding FOS, he was looking like THAT player last year ahead of Jagga but he really hasn’t shown a lot of ball winning or gut running ability since he came back this year. The clean ball handling and marking as well as athleticism was still there but not so much the ability or indication that...
You little beauty. We get to add an elite draftee to a list in premiership contention. This has the potential to be a Selwood or N Daicos type addition if we get it right.
Also, what the **** west coast?
Smith or Lalor.
Smith is an absolute ball winning and running machine who could easily follow the same path as some other special talents at the top end like Daicos, Sheezel, McKercher have done in recent years and start off as a high half back
Lalor could develop over time into that...
I just don’t see why west coast would do it. Hell bent on drafting Allen and Davis as WA boys like they did a few years ago? Surely they’d need another late first rounder to make it worthwhile and I couldn’t give a **** about points! We’d take that trade in a heartbeat.
I reckon if Cody Walker is looking like a certain first round pick in 2026 we just trade our first round pick from that year into the 2025 draft and don’t miss out in either of those year’s first round despite trading out of next year’s at this stage.
In an ideal world it would be a dynamic half forward who can develop into a midfielder and a dynamic half back who can develop into a midfielder but really we just need to pick the two that will be the absolute best players for the club for ten years.
I’m glad we’re more interested in the draft than trading for Houston.
Our first round picks from the last two years look like good ones in Hollands and Moir. Our second round picks have been used on Cowan and Wilson that play the same position as Houston anyway.
Use the first round pick on...
Although I’m always on board with getting a dynamic half forward that plays through the midfield I’m not sure this small ball trend is entirely true.
Top four this weekend
Geelong: Cameron, Neale, Henry
Brisbane: Daniher, Hipwood, Morris
Port: Dixon, Ratugolea, Georgiadis
Sydney: McDonald...
For all their struggles they’re pretty well off for medium forwards. Zurhaar, Ford, Curtis, Stephenson when he can be bothered with Duursma due to overtake them all in the next few years. They’ve got so many that they become way too top heavy when they play the right amount of KPF’s.
Wing was...
Yes, and recent history tells us our small forwards are suffocated by having to stay too deep and still, waiting for the ball to be plonked on top of Harry or Charlie plus about seven opposition tall defenders. We’ve got no idea how good our small forwards are because they don’t get half the...
We’re 1-3 since we dropped an extra runner and played an extra ruck. We’ve stopped running over the top of teams in the last quarter and stopped moving the ball as well around the ground.
I think it’s time to go back to one ruck and more runners in the team.
