I cant agree with Jeff Kennett on this .....

Re: Bloody Jeff Kennett Firstly, a jibe about our colours, trust me thats not going to hurt us anymore. Been and done, old hat. Kinda like calling you guys handbaggers. Reference to our sponsorship deal with Tasmania. Again the chances of that hurting us considering it was a deal that is...

Gary Ablett BOG in 2008 GF comment

My opinion on this is that we have some relatively easy to bait fans here. Why are they easy to bait? Becuase they are very passionate about our team and will not have a bad thing said about them even when it is a deliberate troll. People enjoy trolling us cause we have some big trolls...

Gary Ablett BOG in 2008 GF comment

These types appear to be more Ablett fans than cats fans. You can pick them, Jr just has to be touched and suddenly Number 41, for example, is the devil for daring to touch the annointed one. I know we have similar fans with regards to Franklin, but it just grates me that one player has...

Who do you hate the most out of our rivals?

I chose Essendon. Born in the 70's, child of the 80's, survivor of the 90's! The rivalry beween our two clubs in the 80's was intense. Sheedy is on record as saying he got no bigger thrill than beating the Hawks back in those days. The 90's fuelled my dislike (I actually donh't hate them)...

    When you were young??

Been following since the 80's (can't remember exactly as it was not my primary league as I grew up in SA). Followed Platten from CDFC to HFC. Moved to Melbourne and got my first membership in '03. Lapsed for 2 years after living in Syd for 2 years. Back on board as of 2007, and this is my...

Greater excitement - Elim Final 07 vs GF 08

I can understand it completely. The GF win was joyous and wonderful. Exciting? Yes it was, but winning a game like the way we did the elim in 07 was highly exciting. Come from behind wins are always exciting no matter what in my opinion. Elim 07 was an exciting game because there was...

    Greatest Cricket Sledges

Two of my favourites. Steve Waugh in one of his rare appearances for Bankstown was bowling. The guy he was bowling to played and missed three times. On the third Waugh said "I can't believe you are a first XI player." The batsman promptly deposited Mr Waugh over the boundary for six next...

Shane Crawford retires - Post tributes in this thread ...

17 years. 1 club. 4 Crimmins medals. 1 Brownlow. 4 All Australians. 1 Night Premiership. 1 Day Premiership. a guernsey with 9 on the back. Thousands of fans. It seems wrong that next year I won't be able to scream "CRAWF"! Shane Crawford, our modern day champion. He did everything you...

    Best AFL Presidents

Costa, Smorgon and McGuire are the top of the heap. The rest are relatively quiet (with one exception), and as a result can say they are doing what they are supposed to be doing, working for the club, not themselves. At the moment I exclude rating Brayshaw, although a spectacular effort at...

? Rick MacGowan coming to Hawthorn

To end any confusion.... The records I posted above are each persons records with CDFC in the SANFL, not their AFL records.
  12. rangermcdee

? Rick MacGowan coming to Hawthorn

Yep, Rick was a gun centerman in the SANFL. Was one of those guys who got looked over by AFL scouts for one reason or another and just dominated in one of the feeder leagues during the 90's and early '00s Never understood why he never considered the draft when he was younger.

? Rick MacGowan coming to Hawthorn

Well I was only quoting Dewies CDFC premierships in the sanfl..... but I will never be one to turn down being reminded of Stewies third quarter heroics on the 27th of September 2008. Ahhhh good premiership times!

? Rick MacGowan coming to Hawthorn

Brilliant, brilliant brilliant. CDFC link gets stronger every year! Clarko - senior premiership coach. Guerra - Triple premiership player. Dew - Premiership player. Ricky Mac - Dual premiership player and dual best and fairest. Some good pedigree from those doggies!

ROK talks hit a hurdle - SEN

You are now ignoring the fact that has been pointed out to you a few times here though. Sydney do have recourse for compensation since ROK is stil contracted to the Sydney Football Club. ROK needs to meet his contractural agreement with sydney before he is free to leave, or Sydney must...

ROK talks hit a hurdle - SEN

If they have been accepted then Sydney FC have a legal recourse against Hawthorn FC, I don't doubt that. I seriously doubt either team would have such a legal cluster @#$% actually happen though. verbal agreements mean diddly, get it in writing and witnessed. Just ask ROK how much a verbal...

ROK talks hit a hurdle - SEN

Actually ROK has not met his contractural obligations. He is a contrated player to the Sydney football club, his contract ends sometime after the trade period I think you ould find. If it didn't Sydney would have no legal leg to stand on regarding these demands. His contract will officially...

ROK talks hit a hurdle - SEN

Even then, there are ways that an employer can make it hard for a required employee to leave. Take a legal partnership for example, many forms require up to 6 months notice if you are going to leave the partnership, some even more. Some companies place restrictions of trade upon leaving in...

ROK talks hit a hurdle - SEN

Until the deal is agreed upon both parties can withdraw things from the offer. It is only after the offer has been agreed upon and sealed that this becomes a problem.

ROK talks hit a hurdle - SEN

Sydneys perogative though, they consider him a required employee so they have every right to make it hard for him to leave if they feel they are not being fairly compensated.
  21. rangermcdee

ROK talks hit a hurdle - SEN

You are completely right, and no one has even implied that he is. ROK is not our player, and as a result we can not demand how the trade goes through, all we can do is make an offer. Sydney have most of the power in this situation since they are the ones who hold onto ROK's contract. You...

ROK talks hit a hurdle - SEN

Also, A few years back rawlings wanted to go... he was getting close to ten years with us. We were far from gacious back then, in fact we completely stymied his final request to Hawthorn, to be traded to his brothers club.

ROK talks hit a hurdle - SEN

Both teams are acting in a way I would expect of them. They are only trying to get the best possible outcome for thier organisation. If Hawthorn caved in and handed over 16 would you be happy? I doubt it. Just as Sydney fans would be angry if Sydney agreed to what ever Pelchen put on the...

ROK talks hit a hurdle - SEN

So assuming Carlton stick to their guns and do not offer 6. This would result in Carltons next best pick, 24. Still not getting the required first rounder that Sydney are keen on and has been the sticking point with Hawthorn (despite the opinion of many Hawk fans here, I have no issue with...
  26. rangermcdee

ROK talks hit a hurdle - SEN

If Carlton's pick six is genuinly on the table (and it is likely that it has been bandied about ever since the Warnck deal started to look shakey), why did sydney waste so much time with Hawthorns inferior deal? Just like Hawthorn, the Sydney reps are there to get the best deal possible. The...

ROK talks hit a hurdle - SEN

All of this is true, but what was stoping Sydney from standing up and leaving the table after two days of negotiation? Surely they could of seen where this was going after a complete stalemate on day 2, afterall Hawthorn are far from the easiest team to negotiate trades with (even the most one...

ROK talks hit a hurdle - SEN

oh, I am sure these guys are fully aware of the implication made earlier. I think they are just baiting to see if someone is willing to wear a red card for thier beliefs. Trust me no one could possibly be that ignorant of the situation ;). At least I hope they aren't otherwise a little bit...

ROK talks hit a hurdle - SEN

Never seems to work that way though. ROK will either have a sudden bout with loyalty and be a Swan next year, or he will force Sydneys hand by refusing to sign outright. No team lets a player of his skill walk for nothing these days, particularly Sydney, thier list managers are a bit to canny...

ROK talks hit a hurdle - SEN

If Pelchen and co don't get this through, we will find out just how desperate ROK is to get to a Melbourne team since MFC will have the first pick in the PSD. Personally I can only see ROK in white and red or brown and gold next year.
