17 years. 1 club. 4 Crimmins medals. 1 Brownlow. 4 All Australians. 1 Night Premiership. 1 Day Premiership. a guernsey with 9 on the back.

Thousands of fans.

It seems wrong that next year I won't be able to scream "CRAWF"!

Shane Crawford, our modern day champion.

He did everything you could ask for in footy for the brown and gold. This year his team mates helped him get to the top of the mound.

When your kids ask you about Hawthorn, you tell them you saw one of the greats play. If they don't believe you, heaven forbid they ask you what you are talking about, you break out the 2008 grand final and you tell them....

THAT"S WHAT I"M TALKING ABOUT!

Will be missed, always remembered though.

I'm shattered that we wont ever see Crawf play another game for the Hawks. But I couldnt be happier for him. He has been a fantastic player for our club. He is loyal and stuck with the Hawks through the bad times, went through it all and it has ended perfectly now with the premiership win. Well done Crawf! Thanks for the great memories! :thumbsu::)

Well done Crawf, you are a LEGEND ! of Hawthorn and the AFL.
Last off the real characters in football.
I do'nt know how many years you have to be retired for, before
you get Hall of Fame status at the Hawthorn Football Club?
Crawf should go straight on in next year.
And while were at it, put him in the Team of the Century.
He deserves to be in that side with those other great names.

There is no better way for our brilliant little number 9 to bow out, than with a most deserving premiership medallion.

The fact he stuck with our club through one of its darkest periods for 40 years speaks volumes of his character.

Shane "Cindy" "Hank" Crawford, will miss cheering for ya champ, all the best!

I'm glad I witnessed his last game!
I would have been kicking myself if I missed it!

True Club Champion.

One of the best midfielders at his peak. Could kick goals, blanket key opposition players. Ran hard and created overlap.

Was one of our best players on grand final day, when it really mattered.

The premiership medallion means that he truely belongs with our other past champions.

Words have failed me for over 24hours.

I am so thankful to Craw for bringing that something special to AFL.

I am so thankful for being able to watch Crawf's last game and his first GF.

And I am so thankful that I love Hawthorn and Shane....thanks for the memories.

I know we have not seen the last of him, what ever role he plays..I have no doubt it will be in the limelight.

Fantastic career Crawf, the reason i had number 9 on my back when growing up. Will not be the same without you on the field, but couldnt think of a better way to go with a flag against the handbaggers. lol.
Best of luck for the future, and also your future media job which you will surely recieve.

Thanks for all the memories Crawf, you are a legend.
Thanks for sticking with us through the tough times, and I am thrilled you can end your career with a premiership medallion.

Your face will remain on many fridges for quite a time to come.
I resurrected the 2004 "paid up passion" to do list fridge magnet off our old fridge and placed it on our new one early this year.
The last time I wrote on it, I drew a bazooka in Crawf's arms, with a caption from his mouth saying "wait till 2007"

I can't believe we won in 2008...fantastic.

Cheers

What can one say that has not been said before?

Your contribution to the club, and the belief you fostered in us all in good times and bad, was magnificent.

You were the Hawthorn Football Club to most, a swashbuckling running machine that had the ball on a string yet the misfortune of been born at the wrong time.

For so long we lamented that you weren't ten years older.

Now we just wish that you are ten years younger.

Crawf, no better time to go out - as a champion of the game, a champion of our football club and a champion person.

I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavours and thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving me so much enjoyment watching football and faith.

The good guy wins!

G'day Hawks fans.My first time on BF and I just wanted to say what a true champion Crawf was,on and off the field. Gets the best possible send off for a fantastic career. Will be missed but great to see he will still be on the footy show:thumbsu:

Being only (just) 22, my whole entire conscious football following life had Crawford in it.

He is an absolute legend, and will be sorely missed.

Really that's all that needs to be said.

Congratulations Shane on a marvelous career. You are a genuine champion and there aren't many , more importantly you are a real Hawk, your character and ability and never say die attitude is what Hawks are. You fit nicely in the list of mighty Hawks .You fit with the young guns we have now getting ready for a new HAWK dynasty and you would sit perfectly in the champs that we older Hawk people never forget, the mighty
80'S boys what a pack of champs then those Kennedy's commandos the 70'S the 60'S
and the boys from previous eras who stuck and perservered until we became a powerhouse in Aussie Rules at the top level. You fit in any one of those times .
Thank you.
