The Hinkley saga is typical Victorian grandstanding self righteous over reaction to a non Victorian side whereas if its a Victorian side with a coach being aggressive its good theatre and we understand the emotion etc etc.
VFL underpins everything that is AFL. I hope the GF is between two non...
You are spot on. Port goes to pieces when the whole world is watching us against a top victorian side. We were totally unable to be mentally ready for the game against Geelong. History says we will lose this week too because we beat them in the most recent minor game. Reverse results have been...
Nothing changes in VFL land when their heroes are seen to break the rules. The actions are downgraded, with great excuses why it wasn't what our eyes see, rather what the journos tell us and that is transmitted to MRO decisions. Of course the media and public are OK with being more gracious and...
I guess the good guy media whine didn't apply to Houston this year but next year should be a certainty. Nothing the MRO does surprises me when Port are in the dock. Has not changed since 1997.
Certainly we need a fresh look at the list and giving long serving but no longer elite players a fond farewell and trying out the players who we think might make it in time for the long journey back to being top 4 and a threat.
Well if it is a Saturday night Port is 4 wins and 17 losses, then it would be unlikely for Port to get across the line. Over 75 % chance the away team would win, so great odds that night against Port. So much for the Portress. More like the Portaloo!
Look at Adelaide, they lose defenders with injury, then find new players like they are confetti on the ground, then look at us, we have to recruit defenders cos they are like diamonds in the ground, and look at the result now, we still smell defensively.
Come on we have the 13 in the row trophy and should give Hinkley Coach of the Year Medal as well! Trophies galore these days in the AFL, trophies for each match day celebration as well. Who needs the GF anyway.
I went back to 2014 to our squad then and the day we played the Crows in the second round. How good was the squad and how brilliant was the play that day, so inspiring. Fast play on style of game and plenty of aggressive contest at the ball style and the will to win. How much belief I had that...
Frankly I have concerns on our fitness as well. The side does not play four quarters. We win sometimes with one huge quarter effort only. Games of high intensity need effort over four quarters. Have our fitness regimes become mediocre. A new coach and new football department is screaming out to us.
Hardness at the ball is required. The infusion of Hardwick (on the ball) and Pickett (Wing) plus Carr (on the ball) made a huge difference to the team.
Just looking at our draw and considering Port this year with some injuries may fall away, probably end up 9th or 10th with about 11 wins for the season. Typical Ken year when no contract problem is in play.
In 2017 Port was fighting to finish in the Top four. Round 20 against Crows 130 to 46 in the rain. They made us look like a bottom sanfl club that night. That was the last time I really thought Ken was the man. It should have been a close tussle between two clubs challenging for the premiership...
For a start the injuries mount when we have forwards battling against 100 defenders in 1 square metre of space. Next they stroll down the field past all our players and have a walk in goal easy as you please. Ken's play kills the joy and the hope when the big boys come to town. Rinse and repeat...
Four Talls? Things not looking good for Georgy now, and Dix is growing roots in the ground these days. Put Mac and Cheese to the goal square. Bring on Summer
Poor game plan, always to a packed forward line, losing it on the rebound, now injuries and no replacements, staying in the eight now will be a challenge, but Ken is safe
Complete overhaul of the football department and the structure of the sanfl side, how could any footballer develop under the current circumstances. PAFC in Sanfl is complete joke. The lack of development of drafted players has been a sorry saga for most of PAFC time in the AFL. Hope dwindles to...
Yep, when the heat was on we melted. Who could have confidence in this side should we play in another final? How will future fans look at the 2004 premiership? If only we were there to witness a GF win, how thrilling that would have been!
I think we need a coach who has done the task in a grand final as a coach and can instill some spine in our group so we can have real hope to succeed against the best. History so far has shown we get overawed in the big games.
