Thinking more today, we got way too cute with the Finlayson sub plan. Not dissimilar to the BZT sub plan.

I'm assuming they knew Soldo would struggle to run out the game and planned to sub him for Finlayson, who could then share ruck work with a rested Dixon.

They did not factor in Dixon being so cooked that he'd need to be subbed instead.

Which in itself is stupid. Why play 3 different rucks in 3 consecutive weeks, let alone bring Soldo back after half a game of reserves footy to play 1 game before the bye, same with Dixon. Zero point bringing him back for one game before a bye week.

On the first day of rain in 3 months no less. Hinkley is a certified moron, he couldn't be worse at this if he tried

The only positive I have taken from tonight is when I spoke with a Director on the Board post match who agreed with me unequivocally when I said the difference between the two teams was that one was well drilled and methodical whilst the other relied on pure talent to overcome their lack of cohesive structure.
Totally this.

As much as I dislike the Geelong coach, he does take care of the details brilliantly. Our coach and his sycophants just say try hardery for longery, without giving the players the tools to win when the going gets tough.

When tackled, Voss had organised a method around the contest, particularly having support available nearby.

Our coach had not. Our players, when they had won the ball, so often had nowhere to go to get rid of it constructively.

So our coach not only was unable to get his team to the required desire-to-win level, but had not provided them with the tools to enable them to win.

And a few soft player performers didn't help either.

Hinkley needs to go, and soon would be a good time.

Give Carr the reins to see if he can change the culture by year's end. If he cannot, get rid of him and Hinkley's boys club coaches and start anew.

Pathetic, walked into the press conference grinning from ear to ear. I don't mind a bit of a laugh with a colleague a bit later, but this is immediately after the final siren. Looks like there's no hurt there. Losing should not be accepted like this.
Everyone still has jobs, keeps pulling a big salary and enjoying being around the AFL scene. Plus we're mid table so that's ok right.

Fk me sideways what I wouldn't give for a Jack Cahill type at our franchise

Frankly I have concerns on our fitness as well. The side does not play four quarters. We win sometimes with one huge quarter effort only. Games of high intensity need effort over four quarters. Have our fitness regimes become mediocre. A new coach and new football department is screaming out to us.

You could tell that Timmy was pretty angry at the lack of effort and overall soft play and he kept it together for half an hour of people calling in but one of the callers hit the nail on the head and Timmy said as much as he could without the possibility of being censored by the club.

It was heartfelt and how the fans are feeling.
It was classic Timmy. Saying you can't pull the wool over our eyes ... as long-term, multi-decade watchers of football, we see when you come off the line, we see when you put in the short steps, when you don't go hard enough.

He was seething, almost to the point of shouting down the mic, it was a thing of beauty. And silence from Warren, but I'm sure he's under threat of removal if he says too much publicly.

He is going to use his 24 hour rule post a loss and not give both barrels tonight. But he needs to.

He used the 24 hour rule on his AA breakfast segment today and only partly handed out criticism.

I have been saying for weeks now that Warren needs his ex teammates and the greats of the club to come out and say its not acceptable. They need to get vocal. Warren is constrained by what he can say in public but he is doing stuff in the back ground via the footy committee.

Look at the great Holding the Ball debate of the last week or two. After fans and the media had been complaining for months it took coaches and champion players coming out and saying there is a bloody problem and it needs to be fixed. With in 96 hours the AFL finally act and change the bloody interpretation.

We need ex players to storm Alberton and say enough is enough.

It’s also helping his media profile and therefore his income grow you numpty

What media jobs/events is he now doing that he wasn't doing prior to getting on the Board?

Imagine Aliir one grabbing a mark!

Imagine Jones not overrunning a loose ball!

Imagine Rozee winning a hard ball!

Imagine Boak kicking a goal!

Imagine Marshall taking a contested mark!

Imagine Burton doing anything that could be remotely described as defending!

Imagine Finlayson kicking one of those snaps from 45 out!

Imagine Dixon getting more than 1cm in front of his opponent at any time!
It isn’t hard to do !

Is there any that actually have strong opinions outside Warren? Wakelin, Cassisi & Delaney think he's wonderful.

I’ve never seen a team whose forwards lead AWAY from the ball as much as ours.

They’re trying to get the easy look out the back but it actually results in us not getting any easy looks.

It’s also 100% a coaching issue and has been for years.

Tredrea was voted in by the members as a show of dissent towards the stain on our club, Hinkley and his pet dog Koch.
Tredrea now needs to tow the line publicly so that he can affect change privately, over time, which is upsetting the fans that don't understand. This very act of towing the line will be seen as a betrayal to some fans due to their lack of understanding, which will not be benefiting Tredrea's "media profile" and "income growth" you obtuse numpty.

Not publicly. A few supported his run for the board so I'm sure privately are backing him up, but who knows how much.

I'd love Scott Hodges to storm Alberton when the next board meeting is on and say what the **** are you doing to my football club! That would put the wind up a most of them.

It didnt impact the result of last night... but early in the first I think, P. Cripps got the ball what seemed like next to the interchange bench, and ran into the f50 with out a bounce. Anyone know how far he ran? suprise suprise I am yet to see anything from the media about this.

One of the reasons for this is the lack of ability to take a contested mark and hence why they try to mark on leads into pockets. Since Dixon has become completely uncompetitive (and in fact cant even get to a contest without falling over) the have no one to take a contested mark. Marshall and Finlayson are no good in a contest.
Dixon out Lord in
Finlayson out Sweet or Visentini in

This example was the worst of it.

I can't fathom his positioning here.

Literally 3 meters off his direct opponent leaving the goal face wide open. What exactly is he trying to do here?

I missed seeing that piece of play live, but that would have to be just about the worst positioning in that situation for a defender you could ever see, instead of getting goal side of his man where he should have been to give himself a chance of preventing a score, Jones has left him with way too much space and an open goal mouth to run into, and instead appears to be waiting for the easy ball to be pushed out to him by Aliir. o_O

Be carful what you wish for: It would have been mid-field coach Carr who made the call on who plays ruck

Dunstall says our defence leaks like a sieve. I’ve been saying that for years.
Ken Hinkley wouldn’t ****ing know how to build a defence.
I’d gladly have Dunstall and Brereton go through our club with a broom, how they salvaged the Hawks was impressive. Our former players post Bucky have no gumption.

are we talking about Port or Collingwood here? 😂
