As I said you have zero idea when it comes to times.

A walk, you have no idea about times, sectionals, race shape, zero, you guess when it comes to this stuff, the Cox Plates you have mentioned weren't brutal but they were genuinely run in comparison to most WFA races in Australia, particularly in Sydney. She would be unbeatable in a sit sprint...

So which Cox Plates have been sit sprints in the last 10 years? It is 100% certain it will be run at a faster pace than what she faced first up and likely to face tomorrow.

I'm not concerned about getting a price with her, she will be in the red on the day and I'll be on her regardless but going from 3 barrier trials into one of the fastest run races in Australia over 2000M is not an ideal scenario, that in my opinion is the only thing that could bring her undone.

I actually thought his last run was okay, a good starting point to a campaign, not many others here are flying so has to be a big chance with any improvement, as I said though I think he is very short. Boss is the big plus, seems to be able to get him to settle in his runs, his best form has...

I'm not a trainer, just my opinion, I would prefer a horse to have had a reasonable hit out coming into the main goal as opposed to having 3 barrier trials going into a 2040M race that is likely to present a completely different race shape. Bit like a football player, can do million laps of...

God you are a dribbler, speculating, purely stating an opinion. Like any athlete or sporting team, would want some form of competitive hit out prior to the main goal. I guess if you disagree you are just speculating also?

I personally don't think it matters but would assume Dunn in Melbourne.

Good point on Great Esteem, assumed he would be staying in Melbourne.

Lovely jump out from the Grey Beast this morning, won the jump out under a strangle hold, towed Dunn up the straight.

I'm not talking about gassing her, just presenting her with something that mildly resembles the main goal.

Not sure what to make of Tom Melbourne tomorrow, I was initially disappointed with him first up but was a bit of strange race, they went reasonably fast early which spread the field but then pulled the pace back before sprinting home late, his late splits were actually pretty good, Great Esteem...

You have 3 races where they walk and sprint up the last 600M which is more or less a soft barrier trial then go into a fast run 2000M race, I don't care how good you are it is not an ideal preparation. Why doesn't Waller put something in with a bit of speed to at least make it a genuinely run...

Hopefully Winx gets a proper race when she comes to Caulfield, at least one with some genuine pace in it,she goes around against 5 horses tomorrow and as good as she is does she want to go into a Cox Plate on the back of 3 barrier trials against limited opposition? If I was Waller I would be...

Exactly why I'm reserving my judgement. I'm not making calls on him either way until he is further exposed, hopefully get more of a read on him this weekend because the only thing the Feehan told us is that he is not going awful.

I'll reserve my judgement on TS until we see him again but for me there is absolutely nothing between them on all runs you have mentioned, Ranvet, QE & Feehan. You could also make a case that TS is open to as much and if not more improvement being a lightly raced 6yo with the Weir polish...

Don't know who the horse is yet but Amralah's first couple of runs in Australia were putrid before he found his form, I wouldn't be writing any horse off at this stage.

September Daily Punt - Spring is in the air

To be fair I think you have a slightly inflated opinion of TUS, has run on at the end of some brutally runs 1400 & 1600M races passing tired horses, remember he was beaten by He or She in the Blamey, then was good in beating Huraki in the Ranvet but was hardly a run of an elite G1 horse, as far...

Pointing out that its a very open race at this stage with a distinct lack of quality at the top, something in form and down in the weights could be capable of winning it.

Didn't say I was backing him this weekend, simply pointing out that he is taking the same path as Amralah from last year.

Splitting hairs, nothing between them at this stage.

That's a fair bit of speculation there, based on their MV runs there is nothing between them as far as I'm concerned. To be honest TS performances here over 2000M are very similar to TUS performances last year, as I say there is nothing between them going forward.
  26. Main Man

September Daily Punt - Spring is in the air

Based on what? Very little between them on their MV runs, they basically had the same runs in transit, copped the same amount of interference and ran virtually identical splits home. TS was having his first run at the Valley whereas TUS is a proven Valley horse. I don't favor either horse...

Raw Impluse going around in Adelaide on Saturday, the Amralah path of last year it appears. Thought he was plain first up but if he wins well on Saturday I wouldn't write him off from a CC point of view. At this point in time the CC and MC appear to be lacking quality.

I don't know why they chose to come here with Tosen to be honest, Turnball looks the perfect race for him to get that G1, 2000M on a big track, likely to get a genuine pace. Instead they go to a 1600M against the best we have in what looks a sit sprint affair. Lloyd going to the Turnbull with...

If Craig had any brains which is questionable he should get rolling early on Tosen, thats his best chance of running 2nd, hes a tough Japanese horse used to running in fast races, he should get going from the 800M and make the others work to beat him.

I'm pretty keen Tango Rain personally, always a risk back on to a firmer surface but RR also done his best work on drier surfaces. The Star Turn, Kentucky Miss, Capitalist and even Thronum before that is the A grade 3yo form. Gaurd of Honour looks a good horse with some upside, to be honest...
