Right now pre season. mcrae/Bailey smith/Daniel are getting lots of love.
Doesn’t matter though You will likely have 6-8 rookie scores in that 23.
Once at full premium and looking for an F6 type. I’d assume a fallen premium who’s gotten DPP during the season but is playing midfield.
Trust...
I quite like jones on the wing. It seems to play to his strengths. Doesn’t really seem to understand the positioning of it but when he does it seems like he’ll be an AFL standard player another 10 years which is really handy
Sydney is going to want a lot for him.
A 3 team framework where it’s
WCE get Warner + ??? + picks
Swans get picks
Team 3 gets Reid
It seems a good framework of both Reid/warner want out
Fair enough. Got me there .
When it comes to that period I’m pretty hopeful/bullish about Tsatas. He’s been a ball magnet at VFL level just hasn’t had a clear run with health/the body to play inside at AFL level and doesn’t have the foot skills to play any position other then inside mid.
In...
The list has a bunch of issues no doubt but saying Nick Cox is the best of the bunch just frankly isn’t true.
By production it’s two (three) SSP picks in Nick Martin, Sam Durham and Hawthorns Mass Dambrosio (who we gave away for nothing)
Nick Bryan and Harry Jones (2019 talls) are also...
How is it dumb when rebuilding to get a 20yr old former no1 pick who’s on an elite trajectory and is a sure thing not to be a bust. That’s the exact type of player north/richmond/whoever have been tanking for.
We know Essendon have 2 FRPs this year and 2 2nds thanks to some smart trading. So...
He had 27 touches and 5 goals. Followed it up with a few 20 touch games. Kicked goals in 3 of his first 4 games (on an awful team)
can’t start much better then that.
Martin’s one of if not the best wing in the comp. (Who we played out of position much of last year cause Essington) you can’t...
Yeah if Reid’s healthy he’s gonna be a great pick. Likely locked into best 22.
Just hasn’t managed to be healthy much his 4 years in the AFl. I’m a bit wary of him as a donut after last year. And he doesn’t have dpp to mitigate some of the damage.
General advice says pick these guys as it’s...
It basically makes every round like a bye round. 23 on field 22 count.
With 4 best 18 rounds early in practice there’s 5 flex spots to start the season
Maybe.
They have been doing mixed sides so there’s no real idea on depth chart.
Lots of spots up for grabs all over the field.
I’m personally staying away from the defence. Just a too many mouths to feed situation. As for Roberts might not even make the side if they prefer a Mid like...
Ridleys best position is Sweeper. That Scicily/Stewart role.
Different position/role to what those guys do which is more about holding space and outmuscling in a drop zone
If you’re looking for a cheap Essendon player Tsatas is looking the guy. Plant him in your mids and grab a more expensive defender
Essendon have so many mouths to feed in def (Ridley, Redman, Martin, McGrath) plus Sheil and Merrett have trained there some this season.
Roberts is good but I...
Yeah fully depends on rookie roulette. You get a 100+ rookie score that week and your premo may not have counted and you’ve lost nothing.
More Premo’s per round is stacking risk.
In practice over 23 rounds it’s about a 2pt difference per round. The more durable the better. If they only play...
This isn’t true.
Last season opener vs Hawthorn the back 6 was
Hepp McKay mcgrath
Martin Reid Redman
With Jake Kelly as D7.
Reid got injured that game. Lav replaced him then Reid never took the spot back, played some VFL then got hurt again
For. Sure my current draft has 6 x sub 200k mids that I’m fairly confident in. Plus Cripps/trac
leaves lots of cash for elsewhere. Especially when the forward line is basically set as fallen premos
Great question.
Hard to know. Lots of risk reward there with PODs if it goes well.
if you don’t care about overall and just want to win a league then stacking your team with PODs that share the same early bye could be a viable stratergy.
If going for overall the points you loose are the...
Bryan’s interesting because rucks are really dependent on having good midfields and Essendon’s is a lower tier group.
With the amount of 200k ish midfield rookies and lots of best 18 early I’m thinking guns and rookies might be very viable. Although most will have the same forward line...
Credit where credits due, the 3 ruck idea wasn’t mine. It was another poster (who I’m forgetting- give this post a shout and I’ll edit you in)
The more I think about it the more it makes sense. People are thinking about the flex like it’s some special specific role. But really all it does is...
Team 1 done and wow.
Only have 1 premo mid which I’m shocked about but rookie depth there too good
Def NWM Sheezel, Ridley, holmes mills, travaglia, Gibcus, Allen
Mids: Cripps, Will Ashcroft, Draper, Levi Ashcroft, smillie, Lombard, Lindsay, Murphy Reid, erasmus, Jagga, Tsatas
Ruck, Gawn...
For me I think the “safe” flex option is the play just get a top mid/def/ruck
But then since F6 will essentially be your 23rd premo and won’t often count load up on a high variance player there.
Will be interesting to see.
Perkins has the tools, and there’s a reason he was drafted so high.
Quite a few players of his ilk take about 5 years or so until they work out how to play midfield. Experience aids with the pattern recognition aspect I expect.
He looked very good at the start of...
I think that’s unfair to Stringer. Jake’s an incredibly smart footballer. He just goes in a straight line because it’s the path of least resistance and he has the physical tools to access it. He’s a brute because he’s lazy (and lacks stamina) not because he lacks inteligence.
I think when it...
Fair enough.
in a lot of ways I think that the evolution of the modern game requires all players to have higher levels of 3D awareness/problemsolving then the past.
Then positions are more about physical attributes that allow players to fit specialised needs.
