Nope. We recruited him as an upgrade on Kreugs and most likely on minimum chips....but still as that 4/5th tall.
I.e. quality depth and first man up when needed.
Certainly not a waste of space.
Which is actually the very first comment i made.
Anyway, lets leave it there.
I'd be super happy to...
How many of those playing in our current fwd line in year 1, at a different ground?
You do realize that what has happened at other clubs and their fwd structures & gameplan may actually have some impact on a players output?
You often use historical references and stats to define a players...
Best interview of both boys and girls draftees.
"your name gets picked....you go to a club".....with a shrug as to say "what a stupid question".
Then calls her out on where she lived.....gold!
He was delisted by Stk.
So we hardly chased him with the promise of game time.
So yes....we brought him in as first up depth if we lose our incumbent KPF.
Fly doesn't like one position players. Think that's been very clear for anyone to see over his tenure.
If he doesn't develop other options...
Yup i 100% agree.
I thought Ruby played awesome in the middle this year.....for a starting AA CHB!
You could tell it wasn't coming naturally for her.
She just wasn't great in traffic and she didn't have the awareness (as you said).
Don't get me wrong, she was more than serviceable....but i...
Yup. I agree he is just depth.
Quality depth (he's an upgrade on Kreugs).
But i just noticed a lot have him in their best side.....
Won't replace WHE as a third tall....until he can play Wing, Back, HF, Key Fwd.....all in the one game.
WHE offers too much flexibility in game for injuries /...
Why does everyone seem to think Membrey walks into the team?
Feels like people just want to add him because he is new.
I honestly don't see him getting a gig unless one of Checkers/ McStay / Elliot go down.
We already have a pairing for Cronin.....current BnF actually goes ok at CHB.
Karlson never got going and Wiz played fwd.
Breed / Centra (who is as tall as Ruby / Cronin) and Bri/Brit means there isn't space in the mid for Ruby next year IMO.
So i'd be creating a Cronin / Ruby (Karlson as...
Looks like we'll just use 26 on Violet.
She would need to get to 37 in order for us to be able to match.
Which is far too risky for the club.
They've convinced her to nominate, so they won't risk it.
Then its about how many list spots we actually have as to which picks are then used.
Was...
Wright left a year ago.....not last month.
Wright was the guy we needed at the time, but his consistent accumulation of roles was unsustainable, from both an organizational and personal perspective.
Any incoming CEO would have issues with his role. Far too much risk for an organization to...
She’d improve us no doubt.
We couldn’t catch a cold up fwd this year.
But I would question how many years we’d get out of her…for a pick in the teens.
Just not worth it for where we are at.
Just take the picks and move on.
I'm fine with that.
I suspect she's a very difficult person to manage and engage.
No one moves clubs that often without something going on that makes it challenging for her to stay in an environment.
Smoke / fire etc.
I'd prefer keep 19 (which they would want as part of the deal).
We have no...
Its an unbelievably bad system.
Hardly surprising the AFL didn't think it through.
Forcing a club to have a pick in each round to make sure there is always a pick available to use basically removes the ability for clubs to trade (without relying on other clubs good will).
Take 37 for example...
I felt the gameplan was beyond our players this year.
They looked confused and panicked with ball in hand.
It relied a lot on holding width at contest / stoppage and giving hands....but we failed in both holding width and our handballing was very very poor. So we got opened up a lot off poor...
Hard to work this out....
its 7 if we include the irish rookie signing.
Then there is the matter of the replacement players getting delisted...do they count in the 30? or are they above the 30?
Knocking off approx. 25% of the list is a pretty big statement.
Yup.
When she didn't turn up for Day 1 pre-season....it was never going any other way.
We'll miss her.
But she did very well to play as many games and learn the game the way she did.
Yeah i'm more talking about those directly involved rather than track watchers.
The players would intimately know the differences.
Things that happen away from public views as well.
Anyway, would be a fascinating conversation, across all clubs.
Yeah my daughter is on a 'watch list' with one of them.
Won't say which one....just that its not the pies.
Nothing that ties the kids to them in any draft sense (yet).
Just a great initiative to help them learn the game and get better.
Its certainly come a long way in recent years.
I've always wondered how we compare to other clubs in terms of training standards / drills and fitness approach /focus.
Not making any opinion or comment around port vs us etc.
Just would love to know the players opinions on it.
The closest was Frampton, who made the comment of how different...
Its the full "football payments".
Different to Cat A which is only the base wage that sits outside the cap.
I looked it up a while ago.
Of course, definitions inside the document of what constitutes "football payments" is not something i could be bothered delving into.
Edit: just saw your...
T'was a joke.
Should have made it more obvious.
Even if we didn't want to go, i assume its a mandatory AFL meeting.
Think Port was in a similar boat last year. Tigers the year before.
Do we even turn up tonight?
I'm assuming they'll cut to the teams rooms and the pies will have cardboard cutouts of Fly, Leppa and Dekka deep in thought (or maybe waving at the camera ....just to take P1ss).
I never said it was a good option!
but to ask you this question, how would it be any worse at ball retention than this year?
Different gameplan, different coach. Different ball movement philosophies.
I suspect they really wouldn't care to much about what happened under the previous regime.
But...
I'm a bit ambivalent to this rumour.
HH projects as a tall Mid/Ruck and centra is also a big mid.
Neither will solve our marking woes ahead of the ball.
HH isn't playing anywhere except around the ball. Way too many tricks for her to be wasted anywhere else.
Centra will immediately walk into...
maybe too early and need to wait until full squad is back and in full swing.....
But any new drills from what people have seen so far?
Don't need details, just that there has been some thinking in the off season by the coaches.
That was the biggest take away from '22 was how different the...
