Too top heavy w Membrey
I wouldn’t play him alongside McStay + Checkers
Strong team so great opportunity to include Allan

Whatever our best side looks like in 2025, I'd be keeping Darcy Moore away from that deep defensive post. Down there he struggles to find body and his intercept marking is also wasted.

I'd prefer a back six that had:

Quaynor Dean Howe

Houston Moore Maynard

And then let Moore do his stuff. Howe has to eventually face the fact that his best value to the side now is as a Murphy type defender, a player that sacrifices his own game but HELPS the other defenders. He has the speed and the "nous" to play that role and maybe if he did, then maybe we could get Dean to the KPP we need.

My 23 just off the top of my head and just doing it as I’m bored:

B: Bruzzy, Dean, Howe

HB: Houston, Moore, IQ

C: Jaicos, Naicos, Sidebum

HF: Beau, McStay, Elliott

FF:Bobby, Checkers, Membury

Follow: Cameron, Allan, Pendles

Int: Perryman, Cox, HH, DeGoey

So I know I’ve missed some but they don’t come to mind at the moment. Anyway, it’s a pretty good side no matter who I’ve missed which I find very encouraging. I’m usually pretty pessimistic about our chances each year but even with my amateur selection it’s promising.

Players like WHE in particular are unlucky, he’s been a great Mr fix it player and would be sub for me.
Sidey is the experienced player on the edge, there’s a few wingers we could put there.
Cox stays as we are at our best with 2 rucks not 1 and a bit player. No young ruck is ready to take it from him.

There’s a whole bunch of players who are on the fringe and week to week could/should be playing. Allan is the youngster I can see smashing the door down and I’d like to see Beau get more time in the centre bounce line up. Dean/Frampton are real toss ups, I don’t trust either of them yet, it’s the one spot we could be vulnerable at.

Anyway I bet if I do this in a week it’ll be different.

Edit: Damn it I forgot Crisp. Did I just end his record games run?
So WHE misses out in place of Jack. Damn this is hard.

Defender short - Membrey out Reef/Dean/Frampton in
Edit - Mitchell out Allan in
reef has gone past Dean and Frampton imo Apart from the times we play sides like carlton who have multiple big key fowards which frampton will come into consideration

FB: Howe Reef Lipinski
CB: Josh d Moore Harry de mat
C: Houston Nick d Quaynor
CF: De goey mcStay Membrey
FF: Hill Checkers Pendles

I have a lot of questions. Where do I start

He'll continue to improve and play 200+ games. He was an outstanding pick 17 - particularly in that draft which is looking mightily threadbare at the moment.
He’ll probably play 200 games but I don’t think we’ll miss him. Stringer has played over 200 games as well but I think few will argue we should have traded for him when available.

Why does everyone seem to think Membrey walks into the team?

Feels like people just want to add him because he is new.

I honestly don't see him getting a gig unless one of Checkers/ McStay / Elliot go down.

B: Reef McInnes ~ Darcy Moore ~ Brayden Maynard
HB: Dan Houston ~ Jeremy Howe ~ Josh Daicos

M: Pat Lipinski ~ Harry Perryman ~ Steele Sidebottom
R: Darcy Cameron ~ Scott Pendlebury ~ Nick Daicos

HF: Jordan De Goey ~ Brodie Mihocek ~ Beau McCreery
F: Jamie Elliott ~ Dan McStay ~ Bobby Hill

I/C: Jack Crisp ~ Isaac Quaynor ~ Lachie Schultz ~ Mason Cox
Sub: Will Hoskin-Elliott

He starts off as depth, and if we need him if an injury to one the keys, he'll get his chance. We just needed a backup given last year we really didn't have much in that area.
But I'm not sure we'd change our structure to fit him in -- I haven't seen anyone not a ruck doing ruck work so seems unlikey, (going with 1 ruck) Unless he just replaces WHE, as both play that third tall

Agree with this, although I have been wondering if they will have other plans for Mason.

WHE is so versatile and underrated, but agree I can't see where he fits in the 22. Perfect sub really.

Would love to squeeze Ed Allen in as he needs game time now, but I'm sure he will get his opportunities.

Also how exciting is our backline with both Houston and Daicos coming off.....

I think it will be interesting to track the form of Howie and Lippa
Think they might be the first 2 out of this side if form dips

Yup. I agree he is just depth.
Quality depth (he's an upgrade on Kreugs).
But i just noticed a lot have him in their best side.....

Won't replace WHE as a third tall....until he can play Wing, Back, HF, Key Fwd.....all in the one game.
WHE offers too much flexibility in game for injuries / rotations etc.

Got him for nothing for an over 30, good quality back up, I agree. And nothing wrong with that.
WHE is more versatile.
Structure wise in match sim, we have been going with 2 talls and a ruck, which is what we've always gone with in recent years. Haven't seen a change.
