There were some serious Kool Aid drinkers on here too.
I was willing to give McCartney a chance but from his first press conference I found his mixed metaphors and lack a precision concerning.
We were also already a great contested ball side in Rocket’s last few seasons yet people thought it...
Found myself chatting to a relative of his once and their take was there were plenty of other considerations not necessarily to do with our club at the time. The $50k story was circulated in the press but I doubt it’s the full story.
I think there are players who pull it off but it probably comes down to how much work they can do while out.
Ashcroft was probably absolutely working his guts out the whole time he was injured and stuck to his program like glue. Bont was hobbled in the 2016 preseason and started a little slower...
Look it’s possible.
Despite his supposed maturation post being sacked by us, he still managed to invite gangland killers into the rooms at his new club so I’m reasonably happy we made the call we did!
Yep. Stringer was the ballsiest move given the hype and his popularity but he continued being a flashy, inconsistent, unfit forward at Essendon and ultimately was effectively kicked out of there too.
The others have basically been worse than that.
If there are issues which take him into...
I can’t help but think the two year deal was as much the club’s idea as his management’s.
Apparently he’s great with supporters etc and he seems pretty likeable. It’d be a shame if he didn’t make it with us because of all of this. Hopefully he pulls it together.
I raised my eyebrows a little that we recruited Kennedy, Hynes and Davidson, all of whom can play game time as third tall forwards.
With Darcy, Naughton and JUH (and Bont and others capable of floating forward) you wouldn’t think any of them would be required for that role except to pinch hit...
First up the police said wrong address but that might have been incorrect.
If they are confident it was mistaken identity you’d hope that’s because they have an insight into who the real target was and why.
I hope they have a pretty good idea who they are. This one cannot go unpunished.
A 27 year old woman who was house sitting for her brother has been killed in a deliberately lit fire in Truganina, with two men captured on CCTV.
It’s suggested they might have targeted the wrong house.

Odd and very tragic...
There’s a pretty vocal set of Snyderverse tragics actively willing the entire DCU to fail so that the Snyderverse can be reinstated (which is totally delusional).
It’ll be interesting to see if they show up for opening weekend regardless or if they leave a bit of a hole. If the first DCU film...
There’s a report from the director of The Brave and the Bold that that film has also been delayed so there’s a chance they’re trying to link it.
Either way I doubt Gunn wants two continuities. The Joker continuity is a dead duck now so he’s down to two…
Even our finishing improved a bit as the year went on.
We got smacked out of the middle in the EF and our problems flowed from there. I think that’s why we targeted some big bodied mids.
If we continue our form line generally from about round 9 we will have a good year.
While we have a few youngsters with serious ability I think Sam has the most upside.
Seems absolutely loyal to the club which is great. Richards usually extends pretty early so hopefully he and Bont and wrapped up by the end of the preseason.
I think there was an ok idea in there somewhere that was horribly executed. Collingwood and a few others were doing something similar but I suspect their players had a clear idea of when to do it and when not to and ours couldn’t get it right.
Thankfully everyone has moved on.
The other thing is our biggest bodied midfielder is hurtling towards 30. In four years we won’t be able to rely on him.
Richards, Garcia, Sanders and Gallagher aren’t going to be pushing many other beasts off the ball.
I get he’s not lighting quick but in his highlights reel he looks like he has a fine top speed.
Looks like he will fill out nicely and be a big body in the middle. Clearly by adding him and Kennedy we’ve identified it as a need.
The fact he can be damaging forward is a big plus.
One of the talking heads on Twitter made a good point on this one - Ali is the lowest common denominator.
He’s the one who came to Marvel with the pitch. They’ve changed directors, writers and release dates over and over.
It could be related to him.
I think the word trust has become way overused in AFL circles. Trust him to do what? It’s him using that word, but what does he mean?
If he means they didn’t trust him to execute bullet passes out of defence I’d agree with them - he’d become unreliable - but that really just means he’s out of...
It was a bit of a happy accident we even retained those leaders. The only one McCartney rated was Roughy.
Cooney spoke about it a few weeks ago and, while it aligned a fair bit with what had been said here over the years, it was still bizarre hearing how close to total self-immolation the...
