They can. Must use 2 firsts every 4 years. Used their first in 21, 22 and 23. Have traded 24 for Schultz. So can trade 25 but this would lock them in to using 26 and 27. Not ideal from their perspective, but it's also possible they would bring in another first rounder via trade to use, which...
Yeah definitely not easy to do, and I think how rare a triple premiership player is says a lot. Still, forever is a long time. For all we know we may get a four time winner.
The additional teams is a huge factor. We had guys playing in 5 flags during the 70s and 80s but that seams a long way...
Just in the interest of historical accuracy and a bit of a pub style debate, the norm smith has been around since 1979, goals have been kicked since 1897. So not exactly like for like. There's plenty of great players like KB and Lethal that won multiple flags in years before the Norm Smith was...
Salary has significantly levelled up too. 10% this year and 37% over the life of the CBA.
The specifics of this proposed deal would be important but could mean he's getting paid significantly less than them relative to average salary - and they likely had provisions included to cover increases...
Yep average wage by end of new CBA will be over $500k. So $800k is a decent amount above average but he's also above average as a footballer. It's not the amount it used to be.
Having said that I think small fwd is a luxury position and we have bigger concerns to address.
Yes, Lenny Hayes is a warrior. He finished the game off. Lefau did not. He walked the bench. I never said he was as tough as Hayes, nor did I doubt is toughness. There is obviously a range of ACL outcomes, from professional footballers who can continue playing or perhaps walking, and big footy...
Yeah this isn't unusual. Lenny Hayes did his ACL in the first quarter of a game and played out the rest of it. I believe it's tied to the level of damage to other parts of the knee. If it's literally just the ACL it doesn't necessarily impede standing or straight line movement.
I was interested to see if Hawthorn had tried him back there when I heard we were. Do you know if he started as a defender then went forward, never to go back? Or did they try him again down back when he was a little older but no longer in their first choice forward line?
Do we know if Bolton was actually concussed last night or will be entering concussion protocols? I was hopeful that he was subbed off before the test regardless of result because the test would take the remainder of the game anyway.
Really need West Coast to not finish last. First pick in the PSD would be a huge bargaining chip in a Baker trade. I know we're very cordial at the trade table and they'd probably want to get a deal done, but it would effect our leverage drastically.
From everything we know about Dusty he would not quit on his mates at the start of a season just so he can go out on a semblance of a high.
I wouldn't be surprised if he leaves for another club at the end of this year, but I strongly suspect he wants at least to finish this year and...
100% agree. Both give us so much physicality and are also quite versatile in the positions they can play. Our young mids would be in a world of hurt if these two weren't in the team.
Thanks, and appreciate its a bit silly of me to ask for help and then doubt it.
Will grab some tickets and hopefully be down at GMHBA for Dusty's 300th
I'm looking to make the trip down to the home game vs Richmond now that we're poor enough again to loose the status of Geelong home games at the G.
Which end does your cheer squad usually sit? A bit of googling suggests it's the players stand end so Richmond cheer squad would be Selwood stand...
Hey all. I'm thinking of getting the indigenous or pride guernsey. Have any men bought an AFLW guernsey in the past? If so, how do they fit? What size did you get in relation to buying a men's guernsey?
OP here and glad this has sparked a discussion.
As far as the discussion goes for the overall merit of the award, I didn't mean to imply that I thought the award carried a particular weight to it. But just because isn't highly regarded doesn't mean it can't be improved, and a failure to do so...
I like this criteria for B&Fs, as the scoring systems usually favour players that play a lot of games. I think this for the Gary Ayres medal is better, but still not ideal, as it basically gives a free pass for a poor performance. Macrae would also still win it in this instance, as all it would...
