    Small defender???

Think Matty White is a good one, but I like his leg speed and body strength around the HFF. Dea is the one for me, but we should go into this draft targeting the two best small lock down defenders around.

    Brett Deledio

I really hope to god Dimma keeps playing him in the middle now. He was so good in the centre square tonight. He had 9 contested possies in the first half...putting to sleep any doubters on his inside work. We really need him in there to lead Cotch, Martin.

    News Taylor gone again!

Stuff it....delist at end of the year. Really shattering as he could be a superstar, however we can't have blokes just leaving every few months. Kid is all over the shop. All the talk about how he was settled now is obviously well off.

Deledio to the midfield - a serious discussion.

Was going to say I thought Batchelor the rookie looked great. Batcehlor...Newman....Connors...Webberley.....Dea We have enough good HBF options going forward. Midfield for the rest of the year should read: Deledio, Cotchin, Martin, Foley, Conca Grigg, Morton, Edwards, Jackson

In fairness that's only because Dawson gets moved off him within 30 seconds. Kicked 6 and 7 against your mob last year....dominant!

Would love to see Miller kick 3-4 a week or 80 for the year lol...would also like Nahas to get a left foot, but both are not gonna happen.

Astbury was probably the only one that used the handball properly all night. Holds it until the right moment and then releases a runner. Could teach a few of the mids some things.

    Tftf

Agree....this is pathetic. Given that they are trying so hard to raise funds and had 60,000 at the G. You would say half would donate and average say 5 bucks....30k x 5 = an easy 150,000. Should be at every game this year...was dissapointed as I looked for someone.

News Jack Riewoldt received a death threat before last night's game

What a loser. Hopefully the cops follow this guy up and put him in his place. What did the sun article say?

Deledio to the midfield - a serious discussion.

Let me ask this question. If Hardwick is not about winning games now and is more about building towards our next premiership then why is Deledio on the HBF? Surely if we are to become a top side we need Deledio dominating games in the middle with Cotchin, Martin and Foley???? Not sure why we...

    Vickerys chance

People need to remember this is only his third year and he should probably still be playing in the VFL. A good comparison is Ayce Cordy. Was drafted the same year as a F/S selection and was expected to go top 5. He hasn't looked like debuting yet and he had similar talent levels to Vickery...

Review My Brief Review of Round 1

I think the people bagging Rance need to take a look at the game again and watch what he does. I was there and thought he did an awesome job. I then watched the replay again this morning and my opinion has not changed. Counted two turnovers: 1. Was when he got run down, which was not really...

Jack Riewoldt will be the AFL's best KPF in 2012

Really good call. I don't think he has the strength to bring down a good contested mark at FF. Heres hoping he can at least salvage his career as a crumbing forward pocket or something like that. Pav = no Buddy = I can understand that it is currently up for debate Riewoldt Snr = Going past...

    Round 1 match thread

Positives Cotchin came into the game in the second half. Riwoldt continued his form. Rance was good in defence. Cannot believe people are having a go at him. The ball didn't clear that area and he was punching all night and also putting his huge body on the line a number of times. I think...

    Changes Next Week

Did the people bagging rance actually go to the game or watch it at all?? I am not his biggest fan but his spoiling and defense tonight was awesome and one of our best. Some of you on hear are blind. He saved about give goals from my count..pull your flipping heads in the guy is 21 and finally...

    Carlton v richmond

Agree with this... Big Targets and some crumbers on the forward line followed by solid bodies of Foley, Cotchin, martin, jackson, Grigg and Houli in the middle brings us right into calculations imo.

Cannot agree with the fact you are calling Jack Riewoldt non-athletic. He plays well in the wet. His body work almost becomes more important because he will probably be the only bloke on either forward line likely to take a grab. Kicked 4.2 against Port last year in absolute flooding conditions...

It is pissing down in the city atm. To be honest I like these conditions for us as it takes the skill out of the game and makes it more of a kick long to a contest type gig. Riewoldt still plays well in the wet as well. Foley, Cotchin, Martin, Grigg and Jackson will all love these...

    Preview Round 1 vs Carlton

I think the wet helps us to be honest. Jack is still very lively in the wet and I think it takes the skill out of the game and makes it a kick long to contest game which I am confortable with. I also think Garlett will have less impact because generally when it is wet it is pretty rough...

Correct...want him to produce his best tagging performance. Wouldn't mind if Judd got it 25 times but Jackson needs to limit the influence of those touches. Last time I saw this done effectively from a Richmond perspective was when Kane Johnson kept Judd very ineffective and had it 28 times...

Preview Rd 1 - Carlton vs. Richmond, 7:40PM, 24th March @ MCG - Preview Thread

At the end of the day this match really comes down to the middle of the ground. If you guys dominate the midfield like previous games we willl only have a small number of inside 50's and the inexperiance of your backline won't come into play much. I am actually really suprised Tuck wasn't named...

    Preview Round 1 vs Carlton

I think there backline is very suspect. I really hate that Matt White is in the 22, however I am assuming he will play a lock down role on Yarran. They don't have many decent ball users coming out of defence and if White, Nahas and Helbig can tackle all night I think we are a chance....HOWEVER...

    Vickerys chance

Really like the sound of Helbig in the forward pocket. Throw him up on the big stage. Conca on the HFF with Houli and also Batchelor on the HBF. Between Conca, Riewoldt, Vickery, Nahas, Helbig and Post we have enough scoring power. Not to mention the likes of Cotch and Martin resting forward.
