Bell has missed out on a few jobs since “leaving” Freo but his old mate has made Brad Wira is now in the board of the WAFC and has apparently made a new position for him.
It was worse than that, WC took Imahra Cameron before Strom and McDonald before O’Driscoll in that draft.
Could you imagine how your side would look with those two in it now.
Emotion after a loss to a bottom 4 side will always be high but have to look at the season as a whole.
I wasn’t a fan of recruiting all these older players but they have been fantastic and although we look a mile off the top sides like NM, Bris and Adel, I can’t help to think how close we would...
NM looked very organised all over the ground last year except in the forward line where Sam Wright was the coach.
He seems to have taken that to Collingwood as head coach because they now look disorganised everywhere.
Great first up win and sets up the year. We’ve made finals every time we’ve won Rd 1 and missed every time we’ve lost.
If we can win 1 of the next 3 games we should make it, 2 out of 3 would give us a shot at top 4.
Richmond looked to have more ability but looked an absolute rabble in the first half.
West Coast looked tired in the second half but still looked like they were trying to work to a specific plan.
Very promising signs, getting nervous for the Derby.
Hard to see how she’s not getting a game in front of Cregg and Mulholland. All of the 8 players who are over 30 are playing today, I’d prefer to see some youth in the fringe players.
Unfortunately it’s typical of AFLW media who don’t ask any hard questions of clubs and just accept what they are told and put positive a positive spin on everything.
I’m looking forward to when they get serious about the comp and start analyzing it deeper like they do with the Matildas...
Do you think she’d want it? Club says it was voted by players and coaches and they’ve made 3 vice captains instead of just one so it appears she won’t be.
I thought after losing Bowers and Stannett that we couldn’t make finals but the fixture gives us a chance.
We play all of the bottom six sides from last year and don’t play either of the grand finalists.
She was in the All-Australian squad for Fremantle in 2019 and had been a major disappointment at West Coast but had a good season this year.
If West Coast can improve under Daisy, she could finally live up to her potential.
We had the picks but traded them out for very good players in Newton, McCarthy and Brazill.
Only time will tell if it was a good decision or if we should have done what Melbourne did and hit the draft.
Ok, thanks for that clarification.
So I’m guessing she could have gone to Hawthorn for nothing and been on the same tier but North, like Melbourne, will need to pay her less because they are keen stacked so a trade will need to be done.
Yeah, that wasn’t a smart strategy by the Bulldogs and I’m sure they wouldn’t do that again but …. where would Newton go if she was in this year’s draft?
Thought O’Driscoll was our clear best for the year.
Tighe missed two games and had two very quiet games which would have cost her.
Everybody (Freo supporters anyway) loves the way Stannett plays but the fact she won the F&B is probably a good indication of why we finished 13th.
I agree about Brazill, the mid 3rd round compo pick Freo got for Cuthbertson seems fair as there are plenty of similarities between the pair.
But you’d presume Newton would be worth a first round pick.
And while there are similarities between Miller and McCarthy, Miller would still be worth...
She would have to be traded for draft picks and/or players.
We are supposedly getting Newton and Brazill as well so I’d say we won’t have too many draft picks to give up.
What do you think McCarthy is worth?
