Add to this the Swans had just signed John Murphy a star centreman with Fitzroy. What the hell were they doing still chasing Nifty Neville - who they didn't need ?
Turn the clock forward a few years - Anthony Daniher was approached by Essendon - the Swans found out about it and the Dons were...
Josh Kennedy was always a work in progress at Hawthorn - fairly typical of many young players. I still can't believe that Hawthorn would trade him anywhere - especially if you compare son to father who, I seem to recall, took a while to develope into the great player he became. What a tacky way...
Re: Joe Daniher - "Ox" rates him #1 in this year's draft
Joe Daniher is a Number 1 pick - I reckon they'll give him the number ONE gurnsey as well. He sounds like a Paul Salmon type to me.
Hooker has had a year bedeviled with injuries - he missed large portion of the season. Had a breakout season last year, but needs some luck with injury in 2012.
If such a swap is on - grab it Dons, Toy-boy would be a great "get" for us.
Local boy,too.
I have to agree. Sheedy failed to clean out our list and look what happened ? I would like to see some changes, although I think there will be a bigger change of personnel NEXT season in preparation for what is supposed to be a super draft.
Davies is one who time is about up, as are Spike and...
Re: What Do You Like/What Do You Hate About The Essendon Board?
There was gossip around a few months back that Beverly Knight was standing down - she has been on the EFC Board since 1993 - but apparently not so.
Surely it's time she went ? Perhaps our Board could consider fixed terms (6...
I'd be very surprised if Essendon doesn't choose a ruckman for their PSD pick.
Chris Molitor from West Adelaide is training with the club, and Josh Jenkins is another who might get the nod. Jenkins is the one I believe we'll pick.
Can't agree with all those mid-fielders for Essendon. We need another key forward - someone who can play full forward, and we may be looking for another tall to develope over the next few years in the ruck.
Personally I wouldn't go for a ruckman this time around, but as well as the mid-field...
McPhee reached a verbal agreement with the club for a two year deal - then went off o/s for a holiday. Harvey contacted him with a three year deal, so he reneged on the handshake agreement he had with Essendon.
What particularly pissed me off was we got NOTHING in return for him. Zilch.
What...
Re: Sandringham Zebras V Bendigo Bombers, Trevor Barker Oval, Saturday 15 May, 2:00PM Kick Off
Thanks for the run down of the Sandy-Bendigo game. Could any of you guys who saw the game today tell me how Darcy Daniher played ? It was his return game from injury, and I'm keen to see him make a...
And the Eagles DID smash Essendon today. One minute we're told "no injuries
we're set to go" THEN The following players are unavailable for various reasons
Hille, Neagle, Laycock, Gumbleton, Dempsey, Ryder, Stanton,Melksham and we suddenly lack height, and are forced into playing a short game...
With all due respects to Greg Denham - he knows nothing about what goes on at Essendon. In fact, my distinct impression listening to him on SEN with KB is that he doesn't really have inside knowledge on any of the AFL clubs.
When was the last time he scooped the journalistic field with a news...
It was a different game back when Farmer played. The game was slower, players played in their set positions, and ruckmen like Nicholls and Farmer were masters at palming the ball to their rovers.
Todays ruckmen are much taller than the average height for a "tall" was back then. Farmer would be...
I agree Ant. The simple fact is that O'Keefe - whilst being a good footballer - is not a champion footballer and really doesn't warrant being offered that sum of money. I can't imagine why Hawthorn feel they need him, and I'm betting they're banking on Crawford retiring in order to create enough...
Cute coming from a Carlton supporter. You're the ones who finishes LAST several years running. Not us !
And Hawforn ? Won 5 games in 2004. Short memories.
My My - haven't you a short memory ? On our knees ? Never. Nothing to look forward to ? If you could remove your head from your arse, you'd see we have a lot to look forward to.
How many clubs could get over 40 thousand members - like Carlton and Essendon have - and not be in the finals ...
Honestly Ray - look on the official club wesite ! Listed under "supporters".
There is a name and mobile phone number. If you want an email address, ring the guy who is listed as the contact person and ASK for one !
That article really annoyed me. How weak is Dyson to blame Sheedy for his 5 years of non performances ?
And why did it take him sooooo long to realise he had to work his butt off in the off season and get himself primed, ready to go, and finally - FIT ?
He was lucky he wasn't moved on, and...
It's not necessarily "garbage" it's just another man's opinion. Certainly, Knights is in the boxed seat. If he gets results then he'll stay as our coach.
I'm more concerned with what we achieve within the next three years than worrying about what may or may not happen beyond that time.
