Josh Toy for Cale Hooker Trade

Considering that our midfield is our biggest weakness, you would have to go for this trade if it was true. Hooker is a good KPP and these don't grow on trees, however we do have a few options in this area (carlisle, pears, hurley, etc) and you have to give up something to get something.

Is Toy a fix for the midfield though? Is he quite the midfield certainty that you'd ideally wish to find when looking at trading Hooker, or more a utility half back type?

As mentioned, he failed to even highlight in the reserves, where he played in the midfield. In the seniors he played down back where he looked really out of his depth.

Not sure what his currency would be right now. Perhaps that is why Bluey is looking to play far more next year, to get his currency up? Not sure.

Would take Hurley. Key Forwards would be ideal!

This trade proposal reminds me of the old maxim where "Only on Big Footy is it better to be young, than good"

Hooker was clearly one of Essendons best players before he did his hamstring and would almost be leading the best and fairest at that stage.

His type do not grow on trees plus he is the logical replacement for Fletcher.

And we want to trade him for a player who has done what exactly ?????
Oh thats right, he was a good player when he was 16.

Maybe we should offer Ryder for James Sellar then.
Or what about Zaharazis for Tom Swift.

Pretty sure Toy played firsts for PEGS when in Year EIGHT.

Bit of a manchild, but looked totally disinterested up at GC this year

If he was tanking, he was very convincing.

Sheehan did say he was his tip for the Rising Star, along with Heppell, this year.

Would be very upset if this trade occured.

whY? Toy could be terrific (unless he went from fantastic to rubbish in 6 months) and Hooker is an injury-prone KPB who doesn't exactly strike fear into the game's forwards...

Hooker gets 2 hammies a year, and I think missed 8 this year. Not a good sign. Very dispensible.

Hooker is a very good player and is still very young. Toy has not shown enough to warrant a player off Hookers caliber.

Not saying Toy won't be good, but he wouldn't be the first high draft pick to not make it...you as a tigers supporter should know this better than anyone. :D

Hooker was in extraordinary form before he did his hammy. Was in the top 4 or 5 for marks from opposition kicks and top 10 for contested marks. He was rarely beaten 1 on 1.

Mention the Bombers and UpTheGuts is not to far away.

If UTGs was a super hero all the Mayor of Richmond would need to do to summons him out from his lair is put up an Essendon post on BigFooty. Responds quicker than Batman after seeing the bat light.

UpTheGuts and BigFooty post concerning Essendon = Seagull and chip. Squark squark.

^^^^

You'll take Hurley will you.

Two words: F@#K OFF

Made it pretty clear he wants nothing to do with your rabble.

You'd be lucky to get Hooker.

Nice join date, a bit of a newbie to be telling people to F off aren't you. But to your credit your post is well thought out and articulated, well I am assuming that your mentally challenged

I look forward to your next rant that adds nothing to the thread.

Hurley has already given a big FU to GC17 so yeah.

Even if he was keen you'd be looking at atleast pick #4 + Toy. :thumbsu:

I wouldn't. Toy has star potential... Hooker is solid at best - imho.

Toy has been underwhelming in his career so far - And he is a half back/utility - Have enough already. PASS.

I hadn't heard this but there is certainly smoke around Toy back to Vict next year.

Hooker hasn't come on as much as I thought he would this year and I don't see this trade as being out of balance. Toy has a mass of talent if he wakes up and realises the world doesn't revolve around him and he needs to work.

Hooker has had a year bedeviled with injuries - he missed large portion of the season. Had a breakout season last year, but needs some luck with injury in 2012.
If such a swap is on - grab it Dons, Toy-boy would be a great "get" for us.
Local boy,too.

Geez Essendon would be mad not to do Toy for Hooker...do Gold Coast need another key back though or can they wait for Hutchins to develop?

To be honest I think we're set for defenders right now. Big defenders in Bock, Hutchins and Rory Thompson(who's had a steller last half of the season). Small defenders in Brown, Weller and Harbrow.

That's not even mentioning others like Hunt, Tape and Wilkinson.

Forwards is what we need.

Oh, and was joking about the Toy for Hurley trade. Clearly I needed a smiley in there for that affect. ;)

Agree Sunny the back line is sorted both short and long term.

Yeah, we'd be mad to keep a quality KPD when Fletcher is 36, Hurley is required up forward and Pears can't go 2 minutes without getting injured.

If the Toy part of this rumour is true, I can guarantee the Hooker part isn't.
